Fit my mountain bike in the trunk

I heard that mountain bikes would not fit in the trunk of the TSX so I decided to give it a shot before I shelled out for a rack. It wasn't the easiest thing, but I was able to maneuver my 19" Specialized frame into the trunk.

I was wondering the same thing. I have a Trek and didn't want to get a roof rack...my old Thule wrecked my old car with leaks, plus they're not cheap if you want a good one.

I need to try mine too.

I did have a thule rack from my old Accord and I put it on the TSX but the foot pack was real wide and did stretch the weatherstripping and it just bugged me. (granted, it was not the correct foot pack but I modified it to fit)

I have seen a few pics of the yakima racks and the feet don't look as intrusive to the weatherstripping. I would want to see one up close though before I bought one. I am happy to fit one bike in the back though. If my wife wants to ride, we take her SUV for now I guess

Yeah, other than when I need to haul stuff, the size of the TSX is perfect for me. I really want to avoid a roof rack so hopefully my bike will fit inside. The feet on my Thule rack were the ones specified for my old car, and they still screwed up the weatherstripping. I just loved getting dripped on whenever it rained or snowed, and then of course the ensuing musty smell from the water getting in was just craptastic.

Not gonna happen on this car!!!

PS...has anyone tried using the removable roof rack from Honda? Supposed to be for the Accord, but wondering if it would fit the TSX?

Wow, nice. I had no luck getting my GT in there, but I didn't force the issue either. I figured I just shell out the dough for the rack at some point. Less gunk in the back of the car that way.

Looks like you had to do a bit of contorting there.

Why's it so clean???

I probably could put my Cannondale in the trunk to get to the trail, but wouldn't want to on the way home.......

I use a Yakima Super Joe 3 (linky), but it's not ideal. One of these days I'll get around to putting a trailer hitch on and getting a hitch mount rack.

i get all kinds of bikes in my trunk.
dont put down the seat. take off both the front n rear wheel and u can fit the frame in by putting in the rear (the part where the derauler is) in first and then twist the handle bars and put that in on the left. pop the two wheels on top n ure set.

i think i had two bikes in the trunk and the wheels in the back seat and then a frame 4 wheels in the trunk and the frame on the back seat.

use those quick releases!!!! oh yeah take the seat off too.

gotta love the TSX trunk

I don't have any problems either fitting 2 bikes in the trunk, My full suspension, Hardtail, and road bike fits in the trunk. Probably gets better mpg than getting a rack.
