Nice shot, interesting color and mood. I'd suggest opening your lens up to shorten your depth-of-field considerably. The background (trees, sign, etc) are a little distracting and make the pic look a bit busy. Terrific shot, though.

I second the DOF suggestion. Or maybe you can play around a bit with the compositing and blurring tools in PS. And maybe play a bit more with compositing to bring out a bit more detail in the dark areas and still maintaining.

Otherwise very nice shot. Is this the 18-55mm kit lens? I've the d70 with a few lenses and love it, now, especially after finally getting a really nice photo printer to actually put these 0s and 1s into tangible pieces.

haha why thanks for the compliment. Yea it is the 18-55 mm Kit lens, very good out of the box. I'll play around with the curves and blur.. Question when others take photos they have a black frame with a signature on it how do they do that? do they simply just make layers and mask them?

For consistancy, you can use the Actions palette in PS to record and save your border / sig to apply it to all your photos.

Your snow looks blue, your headlights look yellow, need to shoot in RAW and adjust the white balance.

I have a D50, and love it.

Just add a stroke to your picture layer that's about 6px thick and make it on the inside.

How did you capture the picture?? Did you use any effect, night mode etc??? The color seems very nice and special, is it natural or photoshop??? I've a Casio EX-Z40, a great snap shoot DC, but can't do anything professional especially if I want to capture Night picture or Lighting effects. I'm looking forward to purchase the Panasonic LX-1.

believe it or not... those are the actual colors. I had it at the right time and as you can see it was hailing. all i did was make the contrast better on PS. No nightmode, i turned off flash totally.

Nice photo, I love my D50 and am still learning how to shoot with it in various settings. Hopefully I'll get pretty good with it for my trip to Yosemite.
