cali4tsx A-spec Suspension Install

I usually post in the TL forum, the Suspension section.

I installed A-spec suspension for cali4tsx last Saturday. Boy, it was warm and humid where I live. He didn't mind waiting in my garage. Nice guy.

The car looks very sharp with the A-spec body kit and it's also clean as hell! The 06-08 A-spec suspension lowered his car about 1" all around and I'm pretty sure it will be a little lower after a couple hundred miles. We also tried my 18" BBS RG-R rims on his car.

Front left corner was about 15 1/4" from the top of the fender to approx the center of the hub.

This is front left corner IMMEDIATELY after lowering. It measured about 14 1/4" from the top of the fender to the hub center.

After lowering:

Test fitting the wheels.

Stock vs A-spec suspension.

Front:

Rear:

I'm sure cali4tsx will soon post the pics from his camera. It was a definitely a fun Saturday.

PM me if you have questions about the suspension install.

Nice job, i should have taken pictures when i did my install as well, it would have helped a lot of guys here, so thank you!

Mine lowered the exact same and it got lower after about a week or so of driving. It ended up lowering about 1.25" all the way around which is perfect for me!! It def is pretty stiff, at least on my 225/40 tires and 18" wheels but it really handles well

I imagine the suspension has to be very firm, looking at the amount of drop. The rear springs also appear progressively wound and have dead coils on top.

I also should have said that the first 2 pics are from the RIGHT front, not the left front.

I can't tell the difference between A-spec suspension from stock. Only the rear springs and the colored dots. I bet Acura rips people off by changing out the springs and the shocks are stock and calling it A-spec suspension. The drop is minimal and i doubt it would blow the shocks. Even if it did, they can easily replace them with a new pair and they will last for many miles.

Just my theory after seeing the A-spec shocks and stocks side by side.

Your theory is interesting.

Although, it's very easy for Honda to buy the shocks with different valving from the vendor (Showa?) and they probably cost Honda the same as stock, too.

IMO, without testing both A-spec and stock shocks on shock dyno, we don't know much from the look alone.

Another kick: 7th Gen Accord (V6 and I4), TSX, and TL has the same looking stock shocks. Do you think Honda uses the exact same spec shocks for all 3 cars? I highly doubt it.

cali4tsx, your car just looks amazingly clean! The drop does look a little lower than Saturday. You can get an alignment this weekend.

Oh Goodness that is an amazing drop. Man you left me with my mouth open especially that lot of members complain about the A spec suspension saying that it is minimal drop or not noticeable. Man I’m impressed, car looking great. Good job.
How long did it take you guys to install? Any problems with installation?

csun2004, it took me about 3 hours to install, including test fitting the wheels and having a very engaging conversation with cali4tsx.

It should take no more than 2 1/2 hours to complete the installation. Order yours now before Hondacuraworld cancels out the deal.

I don't think it will need camber kit but once it's aligned we'll know more about it.

That's the first time I've seen an a-spec install with a very noticeable drop. I wouldn't have guessed it if I saw the car parked somewhere.

^ Thank you guys. I seriously didn’t expect the A spec suspension to give me such a great drop. I am impressed myself.
I Paid: $575 (suspension) +3.95 (H. fee) + $100 (installation) = $ 678.95

06-08 A-Spec Suspension Kit Question

Thanks for posting your photos, looks GREAT!

This is the first time I post in here since I am planning to get a 06-08 TSX. I am also doing reseach on the 06-08 A-Spec Suspension kit. Read about 04-05 VS 06-08 the differences or how MT vs AT. I have seen the 04-05 A-Spec, not a whole lot different but I can still tell. But yours is more obvious and looks very nice.

My question to you is:

1) Is yours a 6MT or 5AT?
2) How was the ride after you installed the A-Spec compare to the stock?
3) It lowered 1.25" over all?

I have read some articles on the 04-05 but it supposed to be increase 10% of the stiffness, but I can not find any info. on the 06-08. I certainly do not want it too stiff since I might not be the only one driving this car. Please let me know what's your thoughts are.

Many thanks!

1) 5AT

2) The ride is a bit stiffer then before, especially if you’re in the back seat. Again it is nothing major; the ride is still smooth and comfortable. Think about it this way the A-spec suspension is an Acura product you could never go wrong especially when it comes to ride quality and comfort.
In fact the car now is more fun to drive and it handles, and looks much better.

3) Bit more then 1.25”

Last it is worth every penny and I am so happy with it. Any Qs let me know

it was lowered barely an full inch like more liek past 3/4 of an inch

The ride was stiffer than stock but great felt only a little stiffer. I wanted to spend 565 with no problems so i went with aspect ran them atleast 50k already and blew one strut without realizing it.

I am on teins basic coilover now, i like the stiff feel more but its rough compared to aspec my friends can tell.
I mean hopefully you won't blow a strut or even bend one but they were find to keep stock ride quality and have a little more control.

I have the EXACT same response. Although with my 18's and 225/40 tires it became a little stiffer however, its livable!

Thanks so much for you guys info. If I do end up with one, I feel better to get the A-Spec to put on.

One last question, what about the camber kits? Some said if you have A-Spec you don't need one, since Acura did not recommend on the package, but some suggested that get one no matter what. Did you have one put in?

Thanks!
