Blue neon lights!!

Finally put in my blue neon lights, got them while living in japan, i have more lights but not sure what to do with them now.
The neons look like they have a hint of purple/violet in it, but is just the picture. And there not that bright.

haha sorry but it looks REALLY bright to me...is that safe? have you tried driving with them at night? looks quite interesting...it'd be really cool if you could dim them down a bit so it'll be a bit more like the oem lights. Fun stuff

Looks great!!
I want to install some lights as well.
Can you explain how you did it? As in where did you tap in for power and ground?
Pictures would be nice! Thanks!

well all i did was i found a place under the dash that was not in the way of peoples feet. so on the drivers side the light was able to fit with out any zip ties or tape. the passenger side was bit harder, but its real easy. there is a plastic cover above the passengers feet, i took that off and there were holes were i passed through a zip tie and its not in the way of their feet. i'll get pickers up for the passengers side.

its not really that bright, its just the exposure setting on the camera that makes it seem really bright.

that would look hot for the rear seat passengers by putting it underneath the front seats.

Its a bit too much happening for the front i think.

Where did you get your power source from??

I have 2 blue LEDs that I want to install and was wondering where to get
the power source from.

I tried following XIZOR's DIY about puddle lights

Remove the fuse box panel by sliding the door off. Unscrew the panel right below the steering wheel and take the black panel that covers the wiring under the steering wheel.

In order to have the lights dim in and out like the dome lights, you need to tap Fuse #6 (red 10A, sixth from bottom left in the box) for power, and the green/red coming from the MICU (multiplex integrated control unit) for the ground. Fuse 6 (white/blue) is a constant 12v, green/red is a variable ground that switches from 12v to 0v when the door is opened, fob pressed etc.

Green/red supplies 12v when the door is closed. 12v power (white/blue) and 12v ground (green/red) cancel each other out and result in no lights. When the door is open you get 12v power and 0v ground, lights on. A transistor takes care of the dimming from 12v -> 0v.

The green/red was nearly impossible to find, its on the back of the fuse box at the top. Its a 5 pin green connector that you need to feel for, unclip and remove. It looks like this

The green/red is the 2nd/4th wire from either end. Tap this wire and run a ground wire off of it.
and for the life of me I can't reach behind the fuse box to reach the Green/Red wires... I have the Helms manual and it says I need to take the fuse box
out to reach it, and that is a bit too much work..

So I was wondering if there is an easier way

This is how i installed my neons on the passengers side.

I used the cigarette outlet port in the arm rest and temporarily stashed it under the driver set.

i know it looks messy but i'll clean them up.

then i installed a light in my trunk just cuz...its temp.

here are some of the things i used.

i didnt use that particular cigarette port and i didnt use the smaller lights. im not sure what i want to do with them. i was thinking bout puting them in the trunk once i get a system in it. the lights pulsate with the bass of the music or you can turn that off.

i know that its not all that great of a job but i learned on how to this on my own so its not like am a pro at this.

So do your light turn on when your car turns on?

Or when your lights turn on?

I want mine to only turn on when I open the door,
so it will fade off..

they turn on when i plug them in the cigarette outlet in the arm rest or i can leave it plugged in and when the car turns it the lights turn on.

yea that would be cool but what about when its sunny out side, you wouldn't really see the lights.

i wish i could find something like a solar sensor that would turn on the light automatic when it starts getting dark out side, thad be cool

if i was a true whiz in electrical wiring i would make a box for on the pluggins, put that in the trunk with matching material as the trunk, rewire a new cigarette connection under the dash, re-make the wires longer, and add in just one switch by the sunroof, that would turn on all the lights. also i would make the lights be part of the car and not use zip ties to hold it in place.
but i dont know how to do that kind of stuff

My friend helped me installed 2 free LEDS under the dash and it was bright enough for driving. Can't imagine those neons.

I think a better way of wiring this would have been to have the lights wired to the fuse box, rather than having them run off the cigarette lighter socket thingie. You can even add a 3-way switch to the left side of the steering wheel and run it down to the fusebox...you can then set it to be always off, always on, or turn on only under a certain condition.
