Fuckleberry, it went to Elite Towing in Casa Grande, AZ, but the insurance company is going to re-tow it to a closer yard for inspection, so I imagine the only way to keep an eye out for it would be at auction, assuming they total it.

You guys think I should look at an '06 TSX or something like the Lexus IS? It has knee airbags (which would have saved me from my current limp...) Same HP in the IS250, and no way I am gonna pay for the IS 350.

The car did its job, or the engineers did anyway--you got out with what sound like minor injuries. That's really all that matters.

You should go back and get the engine a sell it on ebay or do a transplant and put it in a older model Accord.

(copied from the other link... hope u dont mind the jack threading)

yea so i was in a hit and run with a fukin 94 town car

im at a stop sign, stopped, i have the right of way, i see him FLYING down, so i stop again and he hits me on the right headlight area.... he goes on the sidewalk, scrapes 2 cars, slips out of a parking spot... hits another parked car, and slams into another parked... then he backs up flies away and i try to chase him for the plate number at least, then 3 blocks later he screeches and hits a telephone pole and drives away again!!!.... and thats where my car died....

The car was probably hit in a way that the engineers didn't account for, and the impact forces were also probably quite high. Energy from the crash got transmitted through the car and found their way to the roof. Those wrinkles in the sheet metal are the vulnerable spots.

In a 40mph offset frontal crash, like in a crash test, it's not uncommon for the A-pillars to move rearward and the forward half of the roof to deform. There are some cars which exhibit this kind of damage, yet they still receive good marks because the energy transmitted to the crash test dummies was low.

not only near the sunroof, but the adjuster asked me if I knew about the deformation near the XM/Sat bubble on the rear of the roof!!

All is well, though, I just picked up my '06 TSX today!

Awesome. Its pretty easy when its a total.

BUT, did you find out how much they were going to give you for the total? Was it less then what you owed (if anything) on the car?

I had put a fairly big down payment on the car, so I had equity in the car. My insurance company (Nationwide) was very accomodating with the total price of the car for payout. Of course, hand washing and waxing almost every weekend didn't hurt the appearance for the adjuster. He told me that five minutes prior to the wreck, the car was in dealer condition, meaning a dealer could have put it on the lot as a trade in with NO PREP. This went a long way to the payout figure.

I had a similar accident about a month and a half ago. At about 12K in damages they decided to repair, not total. The main difference between mine and this one is that it hit squarely on the passenger side door.

In CA it's not so cut and dry as it apparently is in AZ. It turned out to be 100% the other person's fault as she was doing double the speed limit and didn't even try to break (per the witness) despite having time to stop. She was uninsured, gave a fake phone #, and didn't respond to postal contact.

Anyway good to hear it all worked out and you got an 06 on a good deal.

Glad to see your okay.

For a near 70km/h hit..the car held up well - looks like it may be a total loss - hopefully the insurance will cover you at no depreciation. What did his car look like?

interesting...about the sun roof. Another think i was looking at is why would the oem strut bar be twisted up like that. does that mean that the frame is damaged or the shock????? i gues the oem strut bar isnt strong after all.
