Smile ALMS & SPEED WC @ Mosport Pics (several megs worth) *wallpapers added*

It was a beautiful day at the track on Sunday and there was great racing to match. The boys at Realtime had to fight hard but Cunningham and Keinubing ended up 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Here are a few shots from Sunday:

Start of Round 10:

Davis before he spun:

Kleinubing entering turn 1:

BMW with a blown engine lays down an oil slick:

Davis gets caught on oil and goes for an off track excursion:

The marshals did a good job in getting him back on the track:

The dumb part about the spin was the marshals didn't clean the oil at the end of the straightaway so we had a very interesting restart:

Audi had a tough day but the car looked good:

Later on in the afternoon, the ALMS cars hit the track:

This Mazda was the meanest sounding car of the day:

The Flying Lizzard crew were very professional:

The main competitors in GT1:

How close you can get to the cars in the paddock:

The prototypes were very quick so shooting them was quite difficult:

You could clearly hear the wastegate of this Lola at the end of the straight :

(they were the overall winners by the way)

And finally, the S7 which was one of the coolest cars on the track:

It was a great day and I'm looking forward to next year.

Great pics!

I've recorded soundclips of the Mazda Prototype with my IC recorder. From where we were sitting (turn 1), we could hear the Mazda all the time doing a complete lap. Pretty amazing.

I need to find a place to host it and I'll convert to MP3 and post it here.

A few more pics from my perspective if you'll allow it, Dan.

Neon SRT. They were really not competitive at all, it was rather sad to watch them go. Maybe a better suspension setup would have allowed them better turning times:

The Honda/Michelin Challenge. Those civics were a blast to watch. Wheel to wheel racing and all of them turning in on 3 wheels. Funny as hell.

I also have on film the start of Speed GT World Challenge. Absolute mayhem. You guys need to watch the race on Speed this Saturday. I'll try and post a preview, but I need to edit my video first.

Jeff, that crash video you showed me at the track was crazy! I can't wait to see the whole thing on Speed next weekend.

I wish the food lines weren't so long because I missed practically all of the Honda Challenge race.

I like those 3-wheelin' civics.

Nice pics.

It's sucks to see Brandon crashed. Ah...I mean it's sucks to read about his crash. He was leading until then.

Here it is. I converted and compressed it enough that www.putfile.com would host it.

Nice shots, Dan. I really like the composition of number 34 (Saleen, 'Vette, Maserati), and you captured a really good pan on number 36 (Panoz?).

Picture #36 is Miracle Motorsport's Courage C65 Chassis with a 2L Turbo engine.

Panoz has been out of prototypes for 2 years now, unfortunately. Their cars were very interesting in their layout.

Miracle Motorsports had a very well sorted trailer and crew. I only have one shot of it before the race but I was impressed by their professionalism:

Dan, did you intentionally sneak a shot of your TSX in the background or what?

Looking forward to seeing you at Mid-Ohio next year. Maybe I'll venture up north to Cleveland to see a race too.

LOL good eye, but that's not mine.

I parked in the infield this year which worked pretty well.

I'll definitely go to mid-ohio again, it was a lot of fun.

The 70-200 f4L was glued to my 300D for all the trackside shots but I switched to my 17-40 f4L for the paddock.
