Just passed the 100k mark on my '04 TSX! Here's to the next 100k and beyond ...

 

Holy crap!!! I just broke 35k this week. How is everything holding up at this point?

 

dang i'm almost only at 24.5K and have had the car since Dec. 03.

 

Any chance that's in kilometers?

 

I'm at 19,9** miles... bought it the same time you did.. I guess its 8 more years before I hit 100k.

I have a feeling it's miles, as the temp gauge reads F instead of C.

 

either way, 100k miles or kms is a helluva lot to do in at most 2 years! Gotta be highway kms!

edit: i'm gonna guess miles seeing as the temp is in ' F '

 

and welcome, I'm gonna guess miles, cuz the speedo reads MPH as the larger numerals....and stop speeding BTW haha

 

Thanks for the replies ... and yes, that's in miles folks. Everything's holding up pretty good (it's almost all highway mileage), although it burns just a little oil now. I'd say I'm down [maybe] a quart every 3,000 miles. But then it's time to change the oil anyway ... nothing major.

Long story short: I quit my job at Microsoft to do standup comedy. Before I left the day job, I knew I was hitting the road & heading straight into the "paying my dues in the clubs" phase (that every comedian endures at the beginning of their career). So naturally, I wanted a reliable car that:

Got good gas mileage ... (note I didn't say "kilometerage")
- If I set the cruise to 73mph, I usually get 34mpg on the highway.

Had a nav system ...
- I don't know what I'd do without that thing! I know I'm playing a shitball comedy club when she goes "Entering Unverified Area."

And was comfortable to sleep in ...
- I got some strange looks at the dealership when I asked 'em if I could "take it out for a test nap."

The TSX has been hands-down the best money I've ever spent. Especially since I've depreciated the life out of it!

pretty cool; what major services have u done and what was needed?

timing belt for example; is that 60k or 100k?

 

I'm on the original timing belt. The only big thing that's been done to it was fixing the transmission around 50k ... it would crunch real bad every time I shifted into 4th.

 

OMG.... i just went over 9k.... 10k....here i come!!

 

Good point. I didn't really think about it, it was more just disbelief...

To my knowlege, that makes 3 members here with over a 100k miles. (Roger Podacter has around 105-110k)

 

damn, ive had my tsx for over 6 months now and only 1,300 miles since then

 

I just hit 21K the other week. At the rate I'm going I'll make it to the big 100K mark in 3 years! Shit!

 

Congrats on the milestone. Good luck with the career. Its good to hear that the TSX is holding up well after 100K miles.

 

I just hit 90K so I'm catching up

 

1 quart of oil every 3k is nothing.

Hell my old DSM used to burn a quart every 1k or so...but it was a rebuild and they all burn oil due to the less precise tolerances than a factory built engine.

people like scottos here would be good candidates for 100% sythethic oil and an extended drain interval (maybe 10k) Its been proven many times before (mostly in the trucking industry) that synthetic will cut engine wear to almost nil compared to standard petroleum oil.

People that drive their car 6k miles/yr would be smarter not to waste the money.

You think that's bad, check this out. This was me while riding with my sexy neighbour on our trip out to BC this summer. I was on the R6 and she was on her Honda 250 Custom

 

Note to self.... Never take a picture of the gauge cluster while driving 70mph.....

TSX doesn't have a timing belt, it has a timing chain that does not need to be replaced. It might need to be tightened at some point but that is all. Acura will most likely take a look at the chain during your 110,000 mile tune up.
