Window Roll Up Module

There is a group buy on the other forum going on for this window roll up module.
http://www.kptechnologies.com/

I looked into it and it looks pretty cool. Basically it will roll up all 4 windows when you press the lock button twice on the FOB.

I also researched the install and basically all you have to do is take off the driver side door panel and insert some wiring into the window controls on the door. Not too bad.
More install info here:
http://forums.gen7accord.net/viewtop...windows+module

Here's the pricing:
MSRP = $59.99 + $4.99 shipping ( $64.98 )

10+ modules the individual price will be:
$44.99 + $3.99 shipping ( $48.98 )

20+ modules the individual price will be:
$39.99 + $3.99 shipping ( $43.98 )

I'm definitely interested. Is anyone else?

Last I heard they already had about 4 people. If we can get over 10 that 44.99 price looks really good.

So, you press the lock button twice and all four windows go up. The windows-down feature is great in the summer when the car's parked in the sun. Not sure about the windows up feature. When would you use it?

Not bad, my wife's MINI has a module that adds auto-up to the windows from inside the car... now I would definately pay for that on my TSX

I can only think of one situation. You left the windows down, went inside, and it starts raining.

I think this feature was left off of Acura's list because of safety. It doesn't hurt anything to roll all the windows down but, what if you start rolling them up and realize that your kids arm or, worse, head is hanging out the window. Not sure if I would take advantage of this item.

Also, if you hit the lock button twice on the FOB doesn't it lock and arm the alarm? Would the module then disable that feature?

I was thinking it could be used whenever I park and already have the windows down. Since I will be pushing the lock button anyway. I could just push it again and have the car lock, engage the alarm, and put the windows up together.

I don't think it would disable the lock and arm. It would just do everything at the same time.

I suppose during the spring and early fall when I drive with all windows down, that would be cool. It is only $50, but I don't think I want to dig into my door panel for that. Could do it when I replace the speakers though. Hmmm...

A bit off topic but, you won't regret upgrading the speakers.

Well.. you could save 50 bucks and just stick your key in your door hole and turn left twice. Easiest way to roll up all four windows. ^_^

KP website doesn't mention that this works w/ TSX. What's the deal? I'd really like this feature.

Actually I asked the owner and they said it will work
(if we can make the windows go down by turning the key twice in the driver's door) Which works on our car.

As long as the windows can be raised by using the key in the key cylinder the module will work. The alarm should arm on the first 'lock' pulse, and will stay armed when hitting the 'lock' button again (and will give audible confirmation on the 2nd press).

I find myself using mine all the time. Whenever its warm outside I drive with my windows down. Instead of putting them up before I park I put them up as I walk away, its really a convenient feature to have.

I haven't had a chance to test out the anti pinch part of the window system, but it SHOULD still be operational when remote window upping, as the KPtechnologies module does not directly drive the power window motors (it communicates with the power window module).

Thank you all for your interest, and if anyone has any specific questions check out our support forum: www.KPtechnologies.com/forums

Kevin

BTW guys, I've accepted Kevin's offer to use my car as the first test subject for pics and what not. As soon as he and I can get a convenient time, I'll be headed up to Dayton since that is a very short drive for me. I'll post my thoughts and comments after the install.

Our modules are very popular in the Tampa area, we actually have a reseller/installer down there so let me know if you need any help.

He called me after a local G35 meet and told me that in the middle of the meet it started to rain out of nowhere, and 75% of the people there remotely raised their windows!

Kevin at KPTechnologies seems like a great guy. We're hoping to meet up on Dec. 9th to do the install as an FYI.

Once you guys get on that list, how do you know how much and when to pay and how will they contact you.

I only see myself going onto that site just to sign up for this GB.

With this module are you able to control how far up the windows go or do they always go up all the way?

To roll the windows down, you press the UNLOCK button twice and hold it there. When the windows are at a desired height, you let go of the UNLOCK button and it will stop at that point.

Would it be the same for this module but in the opposite direction? So when you let go of the LOCK button will it stop the windows at the desire height?

Kevin will post the final costs on that site and I'm sure someone will be the first to post it here as a follow-up.

As for those doing the install yourself, I'll be watching from a distance as it is installed on mine. If you've read my DIYs before, you know I'm pretty thorough, so I'll be available to answer questions. I'll make sure I do a wire for wire instruction, but I have a feeling Kevin will have that as well. As long as I don't get in his way, I'll snap some photos too. I probably won't snap any of the door panel removal since we have that well documented here already, but as for where we place the module, wires, etc, that I will snap pics of.
