Question Will the P2R Throttle Body spacer....

pass the smog check in the state of California? I'm really interested in getting one but i have a friend that says it will not pass the visual inspection and I will have to schedule another appointment once it is removed. Is this true?

I had my check done at the dealership (Acura of Concord) along with some scheduled maintenance, and I didn't have any problems.

gonna find out real soon...gotta have my TSX smogged pretty soon.

As for the P2R spacer making power, don't know. If it does, great, if it doesn't oh well. I know that the spacer+gaskets+TB bypass mod keeps my throttle body really cool though.

I know this is an old thread, but does any one know if the TBS will fail California SMOG inspection? I need to go in soon.

Passed for me. Of course, my smog tester was an old chinese dude that barely looked at everything.

Mine has passed twice now, once at the dealership and then at a dedicated smog test shop.

I would like to think that most shops would turn a blind eye to any modifications as long as the car passes the emissions test with flying colors (as mine did).

throttle body spacers dont do jack!
any air tuning is done in the intake manifold and not before it.

I think that depends on the car, no?

Car A with plenty of air available, sure, totally agree.

Car B with "just enough" air available should benefit from additional air. I think that was one of Hondata's major conclusions about the TSX -- that it was starved for air. I'm not sure that the throttle body spacer significantly improves that situation, but my gut tells me that it should help.
