where to buy black window frame?

I've had my car for 1.5 years, one thing that keep bothering me is the chrome window frame (I dont know, it's just me). Do you guys know where I can get the black window frame like the one on Accord Euro R? (see picture below if you dont know what I am refering to)

Probably have to order them directly from Honda. Either that or just paint them yourself.

Black does make it look a little more mean but I think it would look better on some colors than others.

BTW, I think BMW's official term for it is "shadowline trim"

Its probably not worth the $$$, almost 1000 for that is a lot, my guess is you could have it painted for less then that.

Yep, you could probably get a baked-on enamel paint job for less than $400.

From what i remember.....on the Acura Website, where you build your car..there is an option to have the trim the same color as the car (red/blue/black/chrome/etc..) and i think it was around $80 so call your Acura Dealer about this because they should have it...i was gonna call my Dealer about getting red and installation costs.. I hope i helped with this issue..

I think you're thinking of the "Door Edge kit" which is not the same thing.

Funny, I thought I wouldn't like the chrome on NBP but I actually like it with the chrome door handles.

i called up a couple of local acura dealers, and they are not able to get anything except the OEM window frame (chrome), i guess i'll have to call up some other shops that carry JDM stuff and see...

one question, has any of you painted the chrome parts on TSX (such as window frame, hood trim)?! how did it turn out?!

the reason i want to buy a new set of black window frame instead of just having them painted...i am afraid that the paint might go off from the chrome easily or the paint might not look "good quality" on chrome...or i am just worried too much!?

thanks for the replies, guys

I wouldn't recommend painting the factory chrome trim unless you sand off all the chrome and have the pastic showing. Paint will not stick to chrome.

Also, if you remove the window trimming, you will have to get them replace because they will NOT line back up properly. So be prepared to buy a whole new set.

It is the same.......if u look at the picture that was posted at the start of the post, that TSX doesnt have the chrome trim...or im just blind. So that would be the "door edges"

Euro-R is sold in Europe right ?
If you have the patience to wait and check around - I would try to find a swap via Japanese, European Honda on-line groups/clubs just my 2 pennies

It says in the Helms TSX Manual, its one of those annoying parts that are made to go on once and not meant to be taken off. The plastic clips that are part of the trim will break once you take it off.

dammit...thanks for the info though. I guess I'll just call around to places that carry JDM accessories and see what they are asking for the items.

the easiest way to make the chrome window frame black is to sand off the chrome and paint them black, and of course you can get it done w/o having them taken off from the car, but i don't know how good it will turn out tho (that's why i am not ready to do it), someone wanna go for it first? ^O^

another way is to buy the JDM set (black window frame) and just replace the OEM set, but from what i know, those JDM window frame run about 400+ USD...

So has anybody tried this yet? Another possibility and I don't know how feasible it is is to use window tinting film. Maybe RockBlocker can give an idea about how that would work.

I actually bought a set of the Euro-R black trim for my NHB from poleposition. the cost is <$400 but in retrospect still too much. But I had just gotten my tax returns and felt like spending some money so I went ahead and got them. They should be coming in soon hopefully, I'll post pics when I put them on.

He said it was less than $400. It's not cheap, but it's not as expensive as you're making it.

It's definitely not cheap, but a cheaperoption may be getting a new set of the chrome trim and get it sanded and repainted black. I'm not sure how much the new trim costs and the paint job, but I'm sure both of those would be less than $400

Everything you need, step by step DIY:

Here

Using this method, you don't have to remove the trip or mask the surrounding area, plus it is cheap and looks great.
