what splitter is this? acura tsx Speed World Challenge

Anyone any idea what brand this splitter is? (if it is a brand splitter???) Or would it be custom made?

I would like to know if the Speed TSX has the OEM lipkit or not??? It seems like there's side, but no front and rear. Anyone has another picture of this sexy Speed TSX in different view?

It's custom and if you saw it up close, you wouldn't want it.

It's made from carbon, but it's attached with pop rivets. Functional, , pretty, .

You can see more of it in this shot I took at Mid Ohio (caution, big file): http://static.flickr.com/12/17931425_9a709cec55_o.jpg

Now I'm curious what that's even pointing to. Supposed to be the 'spoiler'?

Looks to be pointing at the decal on the C-pillar. I'm curious to know what that decal is.

I'll never understand people bitching about a functional spoiler on race cars.

Anyway, I took these pictures at the chicago auto show.

The close up was actually for the intake duct but it's a closer shot of the splitter.

I saw the splitter up close when I was at Laguna Seca last year. IMO, it looks pretty good. I'd love to have one for my Prelude (the track whore), but I wouldn't want one for my TSX because it will just get scratched up and broken very quickly.

Splitter for track, for street.

The arrow is pointing at a 20th aniversary logo of acura.

Everyone and their e-aerodynamicist attitude...

"Big ugly wings..."

People on the internet are the only ones who care what it looks like. That wing is there for a reason, as is the front lower aerodynamic device. If you took them off so that the car looked "better," it would be considerably slower.

At least one person understands this concept.

I don't anyone has really answer your question yet. The splitter is the black piece of carbon fiber thingy under the front bumper. The function of this splitter is to provide more downforce to the front end of the car. Picture a car moving forward, the splitter basically splits the air into 2 parts. The air travelling above the splitter has little to nowhere to go, therefore higher pressure on the top surface splitter. The air traveling underneath the splitter is free to move, therefore much less pressure on the bottom surface of the splitter. Combining these 2 pressures, they becomes downforce. The longer the splitter extends toward the front, the more the downforce it can provide. However, every racing serie has different rule set. Some will allow the splitter to extend pass the body (up to certain dimension) if looking at the splitter from directly above, some won't. Also, the teams may choose different size splitter per track.

Now the other concept you need to understand is how all of this is completely useless on our public roads.

Considering everyone was referring to the LOOKS of a wing on a FUNCTIONAL AERODYNAMIC DEVICE ON A RACE CAR THAT WILL NEVER SEE PUBLIC ROADS, I think my assertion was quite accurate. Had it been on, say, my car for example, the argument you bring up would be valid. However, this wing is on a car that needs it, and my reply was in reference to people applying thier street car "wings are gay and ricey" mentalities to a race car that isn't driven on the streets.

Any other concepts I need to understand?

Yup...one more...

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and is entitled to it.

Some people just don't like the look and are allowed to voice their opinion, regardless of what car its on. No need to throw a fit over it.

Alright cool it down dude, you don't need to be obnoxious. Basically I agree with your post #26, although only two or three people referred to the looks of the wing, and not "everyone" .

As for my post, it was written in the same optic as Dan Martin's, and based on what the original post seemed to mean. It's all about interpretation.

Well look what I started. I didn't say it wasn't functional. My opinion of its looks was from the perspective that I would never put one on my TSX.

No wonder the valet attendant gave her crap.

Or am I thinking of a different member?

btw - what wheels are on that? Kind of looks like Rota Subzero, which I'm sure are knockoffs to whoever made the original design??
