what is an m3 lip spoiler?

I'm thinking of going with the raised spoiler. what is an m3 lip spoiler that so many other people have?

it is a replica of the one that the bimmers have....look on the 3 series..and you'll see a little spoiler that is probably only about an inch high..and it sits on the edge of the trunk..go to ebay and type in "m3 lip spoiler" and you'll see pics, or do a search on the forum

It's tiny and useless. It's only for looks.

You fools!

It's there to give more traction to the rear wheels, as the tsx is a RWD vehicle.

The STI spoiler is functional...is it possible he meant that the spoiler makes the car "more like a RWD car" because of the downforce?

I heard it gives at least 10 extra horsepower!

But seriously, it's what tigerfan and the pics show. I did see a raised spoiler on a PWP today though, and it didn't look too bad for such a big spoiler.

FWD or RWD, spoilers can be useful in the right situation. Realtime Racing uses a giantic spoiler on their TSXs, try telling them its only for RWD cars.

Lip spoilers are supposed to increase fuel economy on the highway. BMW made a big deal about it when they put it on their M3, Although it is mainly for looks, because i can't see that thing helping highway milage any more than .5 MPGs. So its about 90% looks, and 10% function, IMO.

It is 100% for looks, like the OEM spoiler.

Careful though - if you go too fast, the front end will pick up!

personally, I love the look of the lip spoiler. For a nimble sports sedan a la TSX, it looks subtle and fashionable. I know its small and barely noticeable, but isn't that the point? I'm planning on getting one if the price is right as well. It really makes the car's rear look a lot sportier. JCG, very very nice car, I love the black exterior and the spoiler. Nothing crazy, just simple good looks .

I've been looking at these lip spoilers. I just put my TSX in to be detailed and they gave me an 05 RSX to drive. The spoiler is a lip-type, but more pronouced than the beamer one. I don't know if it'll fit or not.

If someone here works for an Acura dealer, or has access to this spoiler, I'm curious to know.

You could buy a bunch of those paint pens and use that to paint the spoiler . . .
