Question What kinds of Headers are out there for the K24?

I'm in the market for an exhaust manifold, what manifolds are out on the market?

Comptech (?)
Topspeed (?)
Mugen (hard to install)
DC (Crap)
Toda (not street legal/can't pass smog)

What else is out there ?

I think that's it except for HyTech. Run a Search for more info on each of the listed headers.

Also header does not equal exhaust manifold.

I've always thought that header = exhaust manifold.

There are a few others but they are race headers and NOT CARB legal like TODA.....

EDIT: DC is not crap, they fixed there errors in the 2nd generation as far as i have heard.....

^ I couldn't justify paying premium price for Toda or Mugen. If it adds 20 HP, then it is worth it.
Hytech system seems pretty good compared to others, it cost a lot though.

A header is a specific type of exhaust manifold (EM), namely, one of tube-welded construction?

All headers are EMs; not all EMs are headers?

Most people I know use "EM" to refer to a cast-metal (iron being the most common) collector, while "header" refers to a high-performance tubular collector.

I'm looking for something that is easy to install and puts out a good amount of HP & TORQUE and is CARB legal.

Then your choice is between DC Sports and Comptech.

If you have an 04/05 TSX, headers will not give you much as far as hp/tq. A range of 0-5 extra hp/tq, depending on the location on the power band. You might need to get a new cat to free up the exhaust a little bit more.

Intake/header/cat/exhaust < Hondata reflash
Intake/header/cat/exhaust + Hondata = “Big Pimping” Status

I'm using a Spoon filter/ header is stock/ cat from a 2006-2007 TSX is like $500(maybe sell a finger or two)/ keeping the stock exhaust/ but I also need to get a 04 ECU for the Hondata modification to work.

But it was originally built for a CL7, and it may not fit like the Mugen manifold.

I know the guys at T1R (AJ-Racing) and I heard that they have a manifold for the CL9, but it's in testing. I'll wait a little while longer to see how the T1R manifold pans out.

I guess I'm mistaken then, I honestly recall reading somewhere (quite possibly these forums) that header = exhaust manifold was not always true.

Not my intention to mis-inform!

The only difference between CL7 and CL9 is the CAT end flange. The engine block ends are identical.
Besides which, the Feel's is a rebadged MaximWorks - reckoned to be the best in the business, and which is now available in CL9 form.

A header includes the exhaust manifold and the a-pipe section with the collector. A manifold is usually just the exhaust manifold. For example, an exhaust manifold for a turbo setup will not include the a-pipe/downpipe so it's not called a header.

I'm pretty sure the race headers (Mugen, Toda, Maxim/Feels) get more like 15-20 don't they?

The CAT is the one where most power is absorbed - change to a 100-300 cell design, and you'll be laughing. The standard exhausts aren't that restrictive, so you could live with them if you couldn't do the whole shebang in one fell swoop.

There's no such thing as EM's being street legal or not - it's the exhaust that needs the qualification.
Besides, the States has different noise levels that make them deemed street legal or not.
You could ask one of the forum's resident vendors to get it for you.
Alternatively, www.japanparts.com can supply it, even though not listed - but there's many unlisted things they can supply if you ask for them.
Alternatively #2, find a new best friend in Japan and get them to pick one up in one of Feel's stores (they have 4) and send it to you.

Where there's a will, there will always be a way.

You will only experience big differences in HP/TQ b/w regular aftermarket header VS race header IF, you have custom ECU tuning specific for your car, or else it's a waste of $$$$.

Could you use something like this and still retain low end power? I suppose if you took the step to buy this sweet of an EM you'd probably also do a cam swap, or more...

it shouldn't get you quite that much hp/tq without proper tuning. however, as i understand it, a true "race header" deletes the catalytic converter and is NOT legal
