What power inverters do you guys use???? I have a Vector 750watt unit I am using to power my Xbox360 but I am wondering if it will have problems down the road. The 400Watt unit I used prior to that lit on FIRE!:angryfire after I replaced the blown fuse... That was fun. So I am wondering if anyone has been using one for a while and have not had problems. Thanks!

 

I got a 100w Vector but I hardly used it (partly because of concerns about overheating etc, and partly because whatever I was gonna plug into it also had a 12v plug anyway).

I thought the cigarette lighter is only good for about 100w or so. On the TL, it says 120w, but not 400w.

P.S. Was it smoking or were there flames? If flames, how'd you put out the fire? I guess (unlike a house fire), you could toss the flaming item out the window!

 

Actually I installed it in the rear of the car with 4 guage wire to the battery. I used a relay to switch the 12 volts on and off so it was installed properly I just don't think the unit was made to be turned on and off with the on button depressed. The other thing is that I think it might have been to weak to power the Xbox360 becasue it demands alot of power and it might have over loaded it and blew it. I actually took it apart at my best buy install bay and put a new fuse in. Then I installed it back in and turned the car on and it went poooof and lit on fire, smoke and all. I said FUCK... unhooked it as it was burning and tossed it across in the install bay and it went out lol. It was in my trunk when it lit up though. Good thing I tested it before I drove off or it would have been a mess.
