What color to paint my calipers?

Ok, I'm looking to paint my calipers, I'm leaning towards black, not looking for something that'll jump out, just subtle... and maybe stop people from immediately noticing how dinky the rear brakes are. Here are the choices

Black - subtle
Silver - matchs the wheel lip
Gunmetal (if possible) - matchs the wheel color

i think black. by the way, i love those wheels on your car. nice choice. do you notice any gains in acceleration with lighter wheels?

Nope, butt dyno is untuned since my car was in the shop for a month and I went away on vacation for 3 weeks before installing them. They feel more nimble, if that makes sense, braking feels good as well, but no raw power increase. I think even w/ the huge wheel weight savings, its offset by the +1 sizing plus wider/bigger tires.

Gunmetal would look sick, matching your wheels...providing you plan to keep those wheels for a long time. Any luck on the search for those lugs?

I think I will keep them a while, can't justify the money to get newer ones, but I do have a love for gold rims

As far as the lugs, I'm holding off to see if I can borrow someone's black lugs and test fit them first to see if I like the color. I'm afraid my big silver center caps will stick out too much w/o the silver lugs next it.

I'd say then, if you keep the lugs silver...paint the calipers silver...If you go black lugs...go either black or gunmetal calipers...I think the black lugs with gunmetal calipers will set it off just right! My .02

I would either keep it stock or paint it black. They will look like gunmetal when the brake dust covered them.
Btw, does the paint have any heat dissipating properties?

Ended up paint them gloss black today, took an incredible amount of time for such a small result. Jacking the car up, taking off wheels, cleaning, taping, painting, repainting, etc. takes an ungoly amount of time.

I'll post some pics tomorrow.

The paint was rated for 500F, it doesn't help dissipation, but I don't know if it hurts it either.

well here's the pics. i ended up handpainting glossy black. I did a test painting for a gunmetal color by spray it on a piece of paper and taping the paper over the caliper. It didn't look right w/ the gunmetal wheels, it looked like the caliper and wheel were together, which looked very odd.

i handpainted the calipers after taping them while they were on. hand painting kept me from getting much on the other parts, but it took a ton of effort, a lot more than my friend who spray painted his and got some on his tie rod, rotor etc.

No good lighting today as its going to rain (again), but as you can see the black is glossy and shines nicely upclose, but from afar its totally hidden, just the way I wanted it.

Now for some brembo stickers, j/k!

500F degree engine enamel paint from Advance Auto. They sell 1200F paint, but no gloss black, so we'll see how this stuff survives a track day.

Big brake kits are a whole different ball game, vs replacing OEM rotors as a direct swap. You can get a bracket to install aftermarket BBK's for the RSX. If you look around, many companies already have a BBK for the TSX, so why would you want one from the RSX....doesn't make sense.... Start another thread to ask questions and also do a search on brakes....so we don't hijack this thread.

Xizor the calipers are awsome. I think in your case the black looks the best.

and cmf there are bbk kits for the rsx for 800$ from wilwood and another company, that's why (cheapest bbk for tsx 1300$ rotora)

Ah, I see, ask to see if they have the proper brackets to put it on the TSX. Call aj racing and ask them. They did the spoon set-up for InspireS, and I would think they know where to get the proper brackets, or whatever else you might need.
