Almost the entire industry is going the route of DBW, so it makes sense that there are going to be aftermarket solutions for it.

A standalone for the TSX is going to have to work with more than just DBW though. It has to communicate with the bus that drives the instrument cluster, too - our gauges are all electronic, run by the ECU, not mechanically connected like older ones. I don't know how proprietary that interface is with the TSX. Hopefully Honda is going to the CAN bus architecture like everyone else is, which will make cross-platform "universal" solutions more commonplace. Hopefully the Gen II TSX will use it, if it doesn't already.

If AEM thought there were enough TSX drivers out there to justify the R&D on an EMS for this car, they would build one, and probably would have already. The fact that they haven't says something. Another thing that might help is if Honda would release the internal schematics and source code for their ECUs and other modules to aftermarket EMS designers, like GM and Subaru (and others) do.

edit: AEM is likely targeting the younger mad tyte doriftu tuna fan base that seems to be obsessed enough with Scions to mod them, but that is just my suspicion.

"CAN is required by the EPA for all 2008 MY vehicles, so all future Hondas will use CAN"

they said it controls VVT-i (tC, xa, xb, corolla s) not the VVTL-i (Matrix and Corolla XRS).
