Total Spend on Performance Parts

I sat down tonight and made a spreadsheet of what I have spent on my car in the last two years. I am just a hair under 10k but if you looked at my car it is nothing special, no body kit, no fancy carbon. I am curious what other board memebers think they have into their car's and if anyone else keeps track of their spend..

Group Thoughts?

I've spent $1100 in 2 weeks on just a clear bra and tint. Another $250 on Zaino stuff (1 of everything just in case, 12 of their applicators applicators and 4 claybar kits), $120 on microfiber towels (12 magic MFs and 12 buffing cloths from properautocare.com), $100 on a porter cable from Amazon.com, and I still gotta get some pads. Oh and $30 on 303 Products Aerospace Protectant and Cleaner & Spot Remover. I'll be sharing the stuff with a friend of mine who owns a CL but I'm not expecting him to contribute anything since he's offered to let me use his garage to detail my car. I figure it's a long term investment in keeping the car in good condition. That's $1500 just to keep it looking good and cool in the summer.

Zasker, how's that SolarGuard working out for you? I ended up getting the Huper Optik, and it seems to be much more effective at keeping the heat out. I can definitely tell most of the heat is coming from the front windshield now, and am not afraid to park where the sun shines right on the side of the car in the mornings at my parking structure.

I got hit going through a 4-way stop by some dude going 60 in the 35. Cops saw everything, but in the state of AZ it does not matter how fast he was going, it is my fault as I got in the way. But I got a new bumper on ebay for 50 bucks from a junk yard in PA so its only rolling me around 400 to get it fixed.

Haha, I actually won the bid for that bumper. I would have paid twice as much if I were to have the body shop get one for me. Now I just need an estimate to get it painted.

^^Alright then, real performance parts:
150..... Comptech Icebox from Acura of Escondido

Pseudo-performance (alright no performance effect whatsoever)
80...... Lip spoiler from Xenonspecialist

Thats it so far, more to come. Im looking to spend about 5000 total over a long period of time (house stuff comes first). Next on my list, A-spec suspension and Comptech RSB.

think of it this way. when you're done or bored with your car, you can sell all the parts back to your fellow tsx owners and you'll recoup atleast 60-75% of your money back. unless you purchased all your mods at full retail price. but who does that?

on my 2001 celica gts, i spent about 8k after i was bored with the car. i had a full kam body kit, in-dash dvd player, trd susp., trd exaust, trd short shifter, aem cai, oz superleggera, ect... all ended up costing me about 8k, after i resold everything, i got about 6100 back. i could've gotten greedy and sold my stuff for a little more, but i wanted to get rid asap.

its not a total loss. just think of it as a bad investment that gave you a "-" return. besides, if it makes you happy, its worth the money. life is too short to not enjoy.

Yea. I do agree with you on that. LOL. Gotta make the wife happy first with the house stuff. Then I can make the car happy with performance stuff. I just got Injen intake and RT cat for right now. But cant wait to put my 50" tv on my custom entertainment center.

haha small world, good for you lucky bastard
I couldn't and didn't want to wait no more driving around like this or I'd have sniped your bid .

so what happened ? how did you bust yours.
I see you have received it.
Did it come in OEM Honda box ?
Is he close enough to you that you could have picked it up locally and saved the shipping ?

Wow, you know what? Your bumper is worse than mine haha. I am still driving with my damage bumper. I mean it looks okay from far away, but it's still an eye sore. I'm lucky you didn't snipe my bid; I was actually surprised nobody else bid on it.

I thought you had asked me about my accident in a PM that you sent a couple of weeks ago, but maybe I'm mistaken. Long story short, a lady who was suppose to yield cut in front of me and I couldn't stop in time so I hit her fender. My bumper is no longer flushed with my fenders and i have some deep scratches (some chunks missing) on my bumper. Surprising, my bumper have no cracks or dents on it.

I was actually thinking of picking up the bumper myself, but it was about an hour and a half drive from my place. I figured I save myself some time and the trouble of borrowing a truck and just have him ship it to me. His auction also stated that the cost of local and pickup delivery was the same as shipping it.

The bumper did come in an OEM Honda box and arrived in perfect condition, despite the lack of cushioning and packaging.

How much did you pay to replace your bumper?
