Tips to Lighten the Load and Go Faster/Improve Handling

I started a list of resonable mods that will lighten the TSX thus improving acceleration and handling. I would like to keep most of the creature comforts and appearance (that's why I bought the TSX instead of a Civic). From there we can figure what acceleration gains will be made by playing with the numbers, and also decide what is worth it, and what isn't.

Obviously, owning a 6MT is a built-in advantage, but here's a start:
Please correct or add numbers, I am just guessing here or am unsure.

1. Lighter tires/wheels: 20 Lbs.
2. Removing the spare: 30 Lbs?
3. Lightest exhaust on the market that also provides a HP increase.
4. Headers
5. Clutch/flywheel

The TSX hood is very light (aluminum), and I don't know how much difference CF will make. Any additions to this list or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
What else can be done to shed some pounds without shedding comfort/amenities?

-Ultra lightweight pulley set (for what it's worth)
-You could also go hardcore and change as many bolts as you can to titanium. (lol)

You can easily shed 60 lbs by filling only 5 gallons of gas instead of a full tank. Perhaps another few lbs by filling 1/2 or empty the windshild washer reservoir. All that without spending a dime.

The TSX hood is definitely not light. I bet it weighs 50+ lbs with all that sound damping material that they've used. Still, I'm not going CF any day soon.

You can easily (for like 1k) shed 10 per corner in wheel and tire weight. that's going to pay serious dividends in cornering, braking and acceleration.(as well as keep your warranty in tact)

Thanks for the info. The point here is to improve the strength to weight ratio, that is, horsepower to weight. We want to increase HP as much as possible and decrease weight at the same time. I am tired of those damn lightweight Civics. Maybe I should lose some weight myself....

Does anyone else have any other ideas or specifics on the list I started (best exhaust, etc.)?

If you really wanted to you could go with some fiberglass fenders as well as a CF or fiberglass hood. Along with a new wheel and tire combo. Also if you were really hardcore about it strip the trunk down completely. Take out all your speakers, deck, amp, carpeting, sound deadening material...but I wouldn't do all that unless you plan on just racing the car. Daily driven it wouldn't be practical. =)

For the TSX, it's hard to lose weigh if you still want to keep full interior. I mean, think about it, that thing has 8 air bags to start with, stock wheels that weighs a ton and so on. What you have on the list (+ CF hood) is already pretty good considering losing weigh.

Anyhow, good luck and if you find more info or ways, please leep us updated!!
