Swapping hondata reflashed 06 ecu to 07 tsx!

While the new K-tuned KPro is encouraging, including support for 2007-08 TSX's, it's a huge step from simply a Hondata reflashed ECU.
http://www.k-tuned.com/store/product...roducts_id=207
1st off it's close to $2000 vs. $295 for the Hondata reflash ECU.
2nd, the cruise control & VSA functions will not work.
3rd, while the Kpro system does include the standard Hondata reflash in it, you might as well get a custom dyno tuned reflash which would cost even more $$$$.
4th, KPro is not for the average car enthusiast. You will really need a laptop & be very familiar with KPro if any issues come up.
Plus you had better have really strong automotive technical skills. You won't be able to bring your car to your dealer nor any mechanic.
And like the Hondata reflash, any engine/drivetrain warranty would be totally void.
KPro has more options, more flexibility, more customizing & therefore the ability to extract more power,. All of this is really for a heavily modified NA engine or a supercharged or turbo'd engine. Totally not worth the negatives & cost for a stock engine with bolt-on's.
I encourage Steve to carry on with his ECU swap.

Hey guys since my last post i decided on something that totally changed how i'm gonna make more power out of my car..Yes i am gonna go the Supercharged rout an use k-tuned ecu management...
thanks guys for all ur support that u displayed when i was gonna do this ecu swap..if it weren't for k-tuned i prolly would have tried it already...i felt it wasn't worth my time an money anymore since i knew i was gonna supercharge my car sometime anyhow...

Bumping up this old thread...
Things have completely changed for the 2004-08 TSX.
With the advent of Hondata FlashPro, you would NEVER swap a 2007 ECU for the 2006 ECU!
Since Hondata FlashPro only works with a 2007-08 TSX ECU, the new strategy is to swap the 2007-08 TSX ECU into the older cars.
Hondata fully supports this swap with instructions and an adapter harness.

Hey Stealth! I have an 06 auto tsx and just got my 08 ecu. Flashpro is in the mail as well. Question is can I go swap ecu's at the dealer and have them match program it to the immobilizer/key and all that now without actually having the flashpro yet? Basically will the car run properly with just swapping the 06 ecu for the 08? Thanks!

The Hondata website answers your question:

The 04-06 TSX will run fine without flashing the 07-08 ECU but the Hondata adapter harness must be installed to make the OBDII port functional so the dealer can program the immobilizer to enable the keys.

Thanks for the reply! I've read the crap out of there info and it's never made fully clear whether it's safe to do or not and even mentions that you can gently drive on the 07-08 ecu until flashpro which made me think it wasn't safe for some reason. Thanks again. I actually called hondata yesterday for confirmation as well!
