From a labor standpoint the coilovers are the cheaper choice since everything is already assembled. Depending on the springs you choose, they'll probably end of being the same cost between springs/shocks and coilovers. Either way, you'll probably need a rear camber kit since your drop will most likely make your alignment out of factory specs.

you can probably get springs + Konis for around 800 bux or less. coilovers will run atleast 1100 or more i'd say. you'll need a camber kit for either most likely if you plan on dropping and inch or more.

If you're buying springs and koni's at the same time you should consider coilovers. Coilovers will be ~$300 more but you get height adjustability.

Since i can do the install myself i wouldnt have to worry about labor. That being said it wouldnt matter if i got the springs then the konis later however if i decided to go that route it would only be 300 cheaper if i did get the shocks ...Also are you able to adjust firmness of ride with either setup? HMmmmmm decisions decisions!!! thanks again for all your help

Yes both the konis and coilovers can be adjusted for "firmness". Some coilovers have many more options to tune them such as independant rebound and compression settings, etc.
