Something up with 08s?

I'm new to the site. First post, actually.
I used to own an 07 Mustang GT (had to trade with second kiddo on the way) and there were some real performance differences between cold air products, depending on whether or not you got a reflash.

I just bought a 2008 TSX and wanted to add a CAI and maybe get a reflash, but I have seen some posts indicating that something is different about 2008s (maybe 07s, too?) where cold air and reflashes are concerned. Do any of the CAI kits out there make much difference anyway?

Maybe there are some threads out there that address these questions, but sometimes getting straight info is difficult amid the marketing-talk. Any links or new advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

CAIs probably make the biggest gains on our cars ( 06 and up) there is no flash available for 07 or 08 yet, and in my eyes, there wont ever be. It has something to do with the ecu. If u were looking for power and best bang for ur buck, then look up how to remove your intake resonator and then easily turn that into a CAI. there will be noticable gains of performance and sound... good luck and welcome, ps its ahrd to get help in this forum, very slow to get answers

it's hard bc:
a. we don't have an answer
b. topic has been discussed so many time .. we're all gonna tell you to use the search function. (i vote for this)
c. we're douches (highly doubtful on this answer tho)

just to eleviate answer B. if you're looking in terms of power that would give you something similar to your previous GT.

Best bang for the buck will be the UR pulley. It will increase power through out the WHOLE rev range, not just mid to high like a cold air intake.

I agree with all of this. And.... as far as cold air induction, I beg to differ with posts claiming a gain. I'm pretty sure about all you'd really notice is a little more noise. I went to the short ram and have left it that way for a couple of years. It sounds cool, is easier to clean, and I don't have to worry about hydrolock.

from all the dynos I remember seeing, CAIs don't increase power, but make power sooner. It seems to shift the torque curve up ever so slightly. Maybe because the air doesn't have to go through the resonator, it gets there sooner? I don't know. But to be honest, its almost meaningless without other things, like an aftermarket header.

Basically, you get extra air into the system with a CAI, what else are you going to do to use it?

I have to disagree regarding CAI not making power if cold air is actually making it to the engine. Short-ram intake on the other hand is questionable during actual driving condition when the hood is closed. Just think how an intercooler works. However, just to be fair, hot ambient temp will kill both CAI and short-ram.

UR pulleys sound like a good start.

I didn't realize at first that UR is a brand, rather than a part, but I figured it out. I might wait on cold air, but then again, a CAI is affordable and I can do it myself -- plus the red ones really look great -- so maybe I'll do that first. Who am I kidding? It's whatever the wife says I can do.

In any event, the responses are very much appreciated. You're not douches.

As far as I know, anyway.

Thanks again.

I noticed this also, a big difference to my BMW days when on them forums it was always very active. Are we allowed to mention other acura forums on here? If so, then what other ones are available ?

Thanks,
