slotted & drilled rotors

found these on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

Does anybody know anything about this company? I dont want to buy them if they're going to end up warping, cracking, or rusting.

"Standard OEM Replacement" means they're just regular OEM rotors that have been drilled and slotted afterwards?

My rotors are replacements, which are manufactured by a company and they sell them with the black coating (think they call it ?e-coat?) to prevent rust. Obviously StopTech didn't have whoever made them put enough of the coating which started to create rust. If you have a metal rotor, with no coating on it what so ever, the whole damn thing is gonna rust. If you look at the stock rotor on your TSX, there is spots with this black coating, which is not on the rotor in the pic on that ebay auction.
I would e-mail the guy and investigate further to see if they are drilling on a stock rotor actually provided by Honda/ Acura, or if they are using their own rotor.

Thanks for all the info. I called them and they said the rotors come from china, are drilled here, and that they are zinc plated to prevent rust.

doesn't that mean that the rotors can be directly replace the oem rotors w/o changing the calipers?

brembo makes rotors that you can change out, they're the same size, just drilled and slotted.

well i don't know if they have made them for the tsx yet, but they make oem replacement rotors.

I think the Brembo replacements are pretty basic, no slots or drilled holes. Not yet anyways. Think they call em Brembo blanks, which I hear are crap.

I helped a friend with his brakes recently and he got some brembo blanks. The brembo blanks were a lot heavier than the stock rotors. Why would anyone buy them is beyond me... must be the name.

BBK definately cause a loss of power. a show on speedtv, sports car revolution, did a dyno before and after a stoptech BBK on a RSX and it caused a significant loss. But the stopping power was pretty amazing.

I can understand a larger rotor being heavier. But the blanks that my friend got were just oem replacement type. Just imagine the increased inertia and unsprung weight.

The rotora rotor replacements are crossdrilled and slotted plus its coated to prevent rust. After i wash the car there's this rusty film on the rotors but when u first drive the car and apply the brakes it goes away.

Even in the front? Can you please post a pic. My rotora rears are perfect, but the POS stoptech fronts have a nice band of rust on em. Those guys won't reply to my e-mails anymore either to get em replaced!

Those look sweet! Any idea when the kit will be available to the public?
Just curious...

Those are just rivits/bolts that hold the center piece and the spokes to the rim. Thus making it a 3 piece rim rather than a single piece. Also making the offset and width customizeable.

The kit is avalible to the public. It's just that dealers and the rotora webside havent updated that its avalible for application on the TSX.

And the other mega mod Smitty got angry that i tried to tell people where to get it and closed my thread

Trying to sell and providing information are two entirely different things.

Yea it did come out like that. I wasnt going to make any money.
Rotora is based in Southern Cali, the best way to get it is to pay them a visit they can put the kit together in a couple mins.

I would say around 1500 for the whole front kit. Not including the rear rotors that they also have. They also have the rear kit too if you want calipers all the way around

Two days ago I replaced the disks on my wife's 99 Accord with Rotora OEM slotted and drilled disks. From your pictures the disks look like they should hold up well over time.

I'd stay away from doing any big brake kits that weren't all around. If you just upgrade your front brakes, you're actually liable to increase your stopping distance to the fron brakes locking before the rear, and ABS, unless you actually see tests for that kit confirming a shorter stoppind distance. AFAIK, there are no rear caliper kits for the TSX (well, maybe some import ones), but I can't seem to find the rotora rear kit to buy online.

Also, from what I've heard of the rotora rear rotors, they rust due to the caliper not covering the entire rotor surface, so while the rotor hats are painted the area around them is not, and you will see rust between that spot and the area that the caliper covers.

edit: oops, the rust thing was actually StopTech Rotors, not Rotora, so, unsure about the Rotora rotors.

Rotora rear replacements are good to go. I have em, no rust.
It's the damn StopTech piece of crap front replacements that have rust from car washes.

I am not too sure about the replacements for the fronts though. Aside from Mugen, and maybe the new brakes one of the vendors is talking about, I am not sure any company offers a FRONT replacement rotor that does not rust, or show a band of rust like you are talking about outside of the hat.

I'm actually painting my rotor hats today anyway. I realize there's some anti rust coating already, but it doesn't extend all the way across the face of the rotor, I can clearly see some rust through my wheels on the hats of the stock rotors.

Not to threadjack, but I must say that the rear rotors on my TSX are small enough that it's embarrassing to me. They're so tiny, and the narrow wheel spokes just show them off. It's like a scrawny teenager in a muscle shirt.

Bleh.

Larger/heavier rotors are better heat sinks than smaller rotors, and they have a larger swept pad area for better friction. They do rob power, but the benefits of being able to repeatedly brake from very high speeds far outweigh the costs for people who choose to use them for anything beyond looks.

HEY GUYS
i got the racingbrake slotted rotors, ordered them from heel toe.
they are insane quality! when i had them put on the mechanic called me and told me that they were one of the best engineered rotors hes saw..idk much about rotors, but here are some interesting facts about the racing brake ones. .....i believe they are cast with the holes in them, and not drilled after the fact..this is supposedly for strength.(again idk..just what i was told)
also, the fins inside the rotors are curved to dissipate more heat, they also come pre balanced from the factory, and the coolest thing yet....unlike other rotors that have the anti rust coating sprayed on them, the racingrake rotors are dipped in this coating..so precisly every SINGLE inch of them is coated..after this is done, they cut the face of the rotor. supposedly racingbrake is one of the few companies that does it this way.
i have to say, ive had mine for about 8 months now, and not one single rust mark, anywhere. im impressed, not to mention they are holding up quite well.
i highly reccomend these rotors.
