skunk2 cam gears

are cam gears really worth the price? skunk2 just came out with there newest line and are priced around $275 a piece (remember you need 1 for the intake side and another for the exhaust). i'm thinking they might be effective for 2005 AT owners (myself) because we lack hondata. another question, would the simple weight savings of after market cam gear be more effecient that stock pieces?

They won't do anyting for our car. VTC > manually adjustable valve timing.

The VTC mechanism that's already built into our cars automatically adjusts valve timing throughout the rev band. It's a continuously variable system so it's far superior to these adjustable cam gears.

intake side has vtc but the exhaust isn't adjustable. you can buy another cam gear to adjust the exhaust side but it's going to involve a lot of tuning.

What they would need to do is create cam gears that have more advance/retard capability than ours for tuning... but then, we could get that from the RSX Type-S cam gears. The next issue then becomes tuning.

^ but will the decreased weight of these cam gears (lower rotational mass) improve throttle response/performance in any way?

As stated above, because they do not utilize VTC mechanisms, they would degrade performance well below their worth in weight savings.
