rubber vs metal shift bushings

I just put on the metal base and cable bushings to get rid of some slop after 4yrs and now im wondering why i waited so long (besides being lazy).

out of curiosity, if the metal bushings give you a much more positive shift, and being metal, do not wear out like the OEM rubber ones, why do they make the OEM out of rubber?

rubber is more forgiving and to the average driver, perfectly acceptable. Metal is definitely better for performance and tight feel though, I agree. I love mine.

The rubber ones also isolate vibration a lot more. The majority of people who buy this car are more interested in the luxury aspect than the sportiness aspect.

Where'd you get your bushings? I'm way more interested in the sportiness.

We sell the corsport bushings as well.

These are a fantastic upgrade along with a short shifter. The upgrade is not one that would be appreciated by middle aged moms though, so car makers tend to be conservative with features like this.

so the 'slop' that exists in the shifter (i.e. shifter in neutral, and the 'give' that you would experience while moving the stick without shifting it into gear) will be eliminated by installing metal bushings?

i've driven some older cars, and during shifting, there were instances where you couldn't even tell if the stick was in gear or neutral. haha....

Yea, you will still find neutral, just alot less play in the shifter.
