RSX gets 10-20HP to the wheels w/ just CAI, jeezus, what about our engines?

I was wondering, does the K24 in the TSX respond very well to an intake like the K20? I heard the RSX type S engines get around 15 HP to the wheels w/ just a CAI that is absolutely amazing to say the least from such a small engine with only 2.0 liters.... so i was wondering since we have a bigger engine... will our cars have a big increase in HP too? How restrictive is the stock air intake in our cars? Will it change the engines tame nature to a loud VTEC roaring beast? Any first hand experience will be extremely appreciated...

But i heard that it is difficult to install the CAI on the RSX, the easiest way is to take off the bumper and also have to replace the window washer fluid canister or it wont fit....etc....

I read from vtec.net that their project TSX got like 8 HP at the top end with an AEM SRAM.

3~5whp? I think it's a bit more than that. According to the dyno's, the TSX gains on average were 6~7whp.

The injen CAI is good for about 10-12WHP. People with an intake and headers are getting about 16-18WHP. There's a dynos section in the aftermarket parts section.

For the tsx? I was unaware it was that much.

15 seems high for a K20A2 CAI just by itself. Where'd you see this, and did they before and after dyno. Like Dan said the TSX CAI gives slightly less HP

I can't believe people with so much rep and who have been posting here for so long and who participate alot of his/her life in this forum are still noobs!!! CAI > short ram for TOTAL POWER. And yes, RSX type S gets 20WHP with ONLY CAI, it's all over their forums and there are many dynos. As a matter of fact, you guys can go to injen.com where we saw our TSX gain 12whp with cai, you'll find the RSX type S gaining 15 - 20 whps in their dyno. Go check out AEM V.2 dyno for RSX... it adds more than 20whp.....

I'm not sure if you are reffering to me or not, but who ever said short ram > CAI? Also, I own a TSX, not an RSX so why would I be a "noob" for not knowing how much a CAI addes to an RSX type S? All I asked for was a link, since he seemed to be reffering to specific threads he had just read. And what the hell does rep power have to do with anything?

I wouldn't classify a TSX poster as a noob just because they aren't knowledgable about what CAI does on a RSX. It never hurts to ask for a link..

"Like Dan said the TSX CAI gives slightly less HP"

CAI gives slightly more HP

http://www.aempower.com/pdf/dyno/24-...RSX-S%20V2.pdf

Their posted largest gain is 18.5whp but some have posted gains of up to 20.5whp

As for Hondata..... if you add Hondata in RSX S, it's actaully closer to 25 - 30 whps..... that's why im friggin waiting for Hondata for our car... I think with Hondata and my injen CAI, we could be seeing up to 20 - 25 whps....

I always thought you give rep points to people who know what they are talking about so you can trust what they say... but whatever...

slightly LESS hp than on the RSX.

You forgot the "TSX" part of what he said. I'm pretty sure he's talking about TSX vs RSX, not CAI vs anything else. He never mentioned or refered to short ram. I think you are the noob.

I meant you dont know what you are talking about because you cant understand peoples posts. Which you just proved again. I dont know what a CAI will do to an RSX, and I never claimed that I did know.

And the post you mentioned didnt claim that short ram > CAI either. You need to read what people are writing thats all.

This is more entertaining than the football game on TV.

Not to fan the flame, but there are many threads about the AEM intake on a RSX over at Clubrsx.com and with a wide variety of results (from loss in HP to nothing to great gains).

AEM V2 Results
AEM V2 Dyno results

Argue about it on the RSX board it you want, but just my Thanks for the entertainment.

Wow might want to use the "search option" at the top of the web page. It helps alot. My dyno is post with a custom CAI and custom exhaust. No header, no TB mod, no hondata heatshield, nothing but the 2. I gained a nice amount of power with the couple of mods I have done. Im now waiting on an AEM or Hondata K PRO so I can throw my turbo on it. I already have the manifold equal length made....we will see how much longer it take i might go and get a header if it takes much longer.
