Reflashed ECU just arrived!

The UPS guy just dropped off my reflashed ECU! I'm gonna go install everything and take her for a spin. I'll be back with some comments...give me some time though!

THAT WAS CRAZY!!! The car just pulls forever! The vtec switch is almost unnoticeable. There is a very slight increase in power down low but the fact that the car just pulls hard all the way to 7600 is rediculous!!

The swaybar is a great mod, especially for the $. Taking corners, turns, on/off-ramps, etc. are more fun with it, but this reflash just gives me that holy shit! feeling. The sound of the car is unbelievable. The sound doesn't necessarily "change" it's just a different sound winding it up to 7600. I think someone said once it sounds "pissed off" or "like an swarm of angry bees". That about sums it up.

There is no Hondata reflash available for the 2005 TSX, correct?

But you want them to get it RIGHT and squeeze every lb.ft. of torque and HP out of your 05 engine. Be patient, it will be worth the wait.

I believe the problem is to do with the way they flash the ECU. The maps should be the same once they can get inside.

The funny thing about this mod is that you don't really "feel" a boost in the car's acceleration. Everyone, including Hondata, says that, and I couldn't imagine what that meant, but I get it now. If you add any kind of forced induction or other major engine mod you'll feel a definite change in the car's acceleration - that pin-you-in-your-seat feeling. With this it's just filling in torque where there previously was less so the car pulls ALL THE WAY to redline. It's hard to describe without actually driving it before and after. It's like they just put something there that wasn't there before, but should've been.

Injen CAI, Comptech rear sway, Comptech short shifter. I'm gonna try and do the DC Sports header soon too.

Cool man...I have similar mods and just got the DC header about 1 or 2 months ago. I think you'll like it if you get it. Try to look for the new fixed version of the DC header. Do a search and you should see find some threads with pics of the fixed version.

Yes I've been reading all about it. I wasn't going near that one until I saw that they fixed it. I'll have to do that one tactfully though since I "promised" my wife that Hondata would be the last mod.

Should've quoted TSX536. I wasn't reading all about patience!

And I thought tints should be my last mod...I hate threads like this...

I think im still waiting for the "I'm reflashed, and Acura denied my warranty!!!" thread...warranty is important to me since I only put 10K miles in one year. So at that pace, I'll still have a warranty several years from now...I just feel like I cant risk that...

My research tells me that the stealer won't even be able to detect it since it will throw codes just like stock.

Here's what Hondata says in regards to the warranty:
From the FAQ:

Federal law sets forth requirements for warranties and contains a number of provisions to prevent vehicle manufacturers, dealers and others from unjustly denying warranty coverage. With regard to aftermarket parts, the gist of the law is that warranty coverage cannot be denied simply because such parts are present on the vehicle, or have been used. (see Federal Warranty Laws for details). The warranty coverage can be denied only if the aftermarket part caused the malfunction or damage for which warranty coverage is sought.

If a dealership denies warranty coverage (more details here) , they should be willing to do so in writing. Have the dealer describe the failure which is causing your problem AND how the dealer believes the aftermarket product installed is responsible for the problem. Keep an accurate log of all contacts and correspondence in addressing the warranty denial. Hondata will provide any technical information the dealership requires.

Search for the Moss Magnuson Act

I understand your concern. I don't share it since I put on about 30k miles a year so my warranty will be done within 6 months anyway. Besides, I trust Hondata to create a well-thought-out product that wouldn't put them at risk. I think if they had problems with their products or services they'd be out of business already.

lol - there must be some reflashed NYers around. Besides, once you drive one you'll just think about how nice it was until you order one yourself so you might as well just go get it done anyway! I drove it again not long ago, downshifted to 3rd gear and then punched it from about 3k. The torque is so smooth now.

Well I gotta say that I'm pretty impressed that no one has reported any problems what-so-ever, and that Hondata will back you if a warranty dispute arises with a dealer.

I'm still in wait and see mode for now

Hondata pretty much releases all liability via their warranty disclosures, but it is good to know that they back you in any disputes with Acura. It's all self-preservation, which is another sign of a smartly-run company. Anything can happen at any time with any aftermarket product, but I've put Hondata in my "trust" column (as opposed to "run the other way" column). So far the rewards outweigh the risk in my mind!

Is anyone running Hondata with an other wise stock car(stock intake, header and exhaust)?

I am interested in the gains from hondata, but I don't want the noise of an intake.

You have to remove the ecu and immobilizer and send them to Hondata in CA. The only way to do it. Ship it overnight, they reflash and send back, you get it back the next day.

Here are some more things I've noticed about the car after being reflashed and driving it more (for those who are considering or interested):

1. There is a slight change in sound throughout the rev range, especially upper rpm. Very slight - good sound.
2. The car feels much better below 4k rpm - more responsive, peppier, zippier, whatever - just better.
3. Shifting feels smoother, especially when going WOT.
4. Acceleration on the highway in 6th gear is much better. I used to have to downshift 2 gears if I wanted to get going, and even then it felt slow.

#4 is good to know. I almost always shift to 5th or 4th if I want to pass quickly.

Guys, long question. I understand that with intakes + reflash will definetly feel more power. But which intake should be used? I'm getting mine reflash next month at EPIC motoring. I want to have the intake installed before then. Injen or icebox? I know that injen puts out 12+ hp and comptech is less then 10. Is it a huge difference with a combo of reflash? If I'm not mistaken Hondata reflash test used icebox combp right? Sorry for the long questiion.
