Question about Injen Intake Growl
My cousin and I have just installed the injen CAI and we took a few spins around the block. All I can say is....HOLY SHIT!!!! This thing KICKS! I truly heard VTEC for the first time ever. 
Anyway, my question is for those who have the CAI installed - at around what RPM does the engine sound usually change? I noticed a significant sound when at 2,500 at 3rd gear. Is this normal?

my friend triz has an AT w/ injen. you can hear the vtec switch over pretty loud at 6k, well now 5k b/c he has hondata.
his setup is comptech exhuast and injen cai. and hondata
my setup is comptech i/h/e and hondata
my car is louder than his.
i dont know what change you are talkin about in 3rd tho, sorry.

vtec kicks in around 6k for nonhondataed cars. that's right, i'm making up words. the growl depends on the gear it's in, how much the pedal is pressed, and the rpm at which it's pressed. about your 3rd gear issue, you can get a really loud growl if you press the pedal down hard, if the rpm is below 2k and you're going under 20mph in ss mode.
other than that, i haven't noticed anything different happening in 3rd that wouldn't happen in any other gear.

The reason I ask is that a lot of other posters have stated that they experience no difference in sound until about 4,500 rpm. Thanks for the replies.

For the intake I believe the loudness you hear is dependent on your throttle input. The harder you hit the throttle, the louder it will be at that RPM. Try reving up 2nd slowly and lightly.. then try it again full throttle, it'll be much louder.
One thing I was told to try out when I first installed the intake was to punch the gas to the floor quickly a few consecutive times to raise the RPM while in WOT. You can actually hear that thrrotlebody click open and suck in that air.
