So if you want to partially open the sunroof, you can either push the open button ONCE and hold, or push it twice and then push close when it's open as far as you want?

if you want it partially open all you have to do is push the open button twice to activate the auto open and then press it again anytime during the opening to stop it at that position.

Exactly. To stop the sunroof once it is triggered you must push either of the other two buttons.

When the sunroof module triggers it basically tricks the sunroof controller in to thinking that the button is being held down. Since the sunroof controller electronically thinks the button is pushed it pushing it again does nothing, due to the fact that the sunroof controller already thinks the button is pushed anyway.

Interesting. So do you use a timer to "hold the button" until the sunroof is fully open/closed, or do you get some feedback from the sunroof when it reaches the end of its travel?

In its simplest for you could call it a timer. For ease of installation there is no reference to the actual position of the sunroof.

Does that mean that, for instance, if the sunroof is already open and I push the open button twice because I'm not thinking, that it will keep trying to open it for another 10 seconds? If so, does that pose a risk of burning out the motor or anything, or does the car already have safeguards against that?

(Sorry, I'm not trying to heckle you and plan to buy the module regardless, just want to understand if there are any caveats )

If the sunroof is open and you hit the button twice it will latch the output still.

But, the sunroof has limit switches built in to it. When it reaches its end of travel it hits the switch, and the switch disables the motor. There is no danger to the motor at all.

The car has that as a safeguard already to protect the motor in the event that a sunroof switch stuck and you didn't know it. Those motors are generally torquey and I would imagine would get hot quickly if in a bind, creating a possible fire hazard if something like that should ever happen. Of course one would hope the extra current created by the motor being in a bind would pop the fuse before any major damage happens.

I figured as much. Thanks!

If there's a safety cutoff then there's really no disadvantage to latching the output for too long, since pushing any other button will cancel it anyway. I would assume, then, that the module is intentionally designed to latch the output longer than it needs to, to make sure the sunroof opens fully even if it's moving a little slower than expected, right?

Exactly.

I tried to get it as close as possible, with just a little extra just in case. Motors tend to run slower when cold, and I live in a cold area so I wanted to make sure it worked year round.

The final testing should be done tomorrow when I install one in Moda_way's TSX.

After that, I have to make the install manuals, and then its on!

Typically when two modules are bought at the same time we include shipping for free. We may consider bundling the two, but I'm pretty sure that the individual group buy pricing will be lower then the bundled price.

I am interested. I will also be purchasing the window module in the second group buy. Is there anything I need to do to get the possible free shipping when purchasing both?

Thanks

Well I forgot my GD camera, but Kevin got plenty of pics.

Everyone... this is SOOO NICE TO HAVE!!!! Jump on this GB, I freakin love this mod to my car and though it is somewhat of a detailed install, the payoff is fantastic. If you know how to solider, you can do this.

Thanks again Kevin.

Teaser to others, Kevin and I chatted about some other possible modules to come if there is interest. Check out the thread on the VSA module Kevin has already available. Basically, you can shut your VSA off and it will stay off after you turn the car off and back on. SOO SWEET!!

Yeah, we are too busy with the group buy to roll these out. We can't keep the window modules in stock, making it impossible to start producing new stuff.

This module is done, and WILL be released. The initial release will be announced on here, with a special price!

Thanks!

I had the pleasure of dealing with Kevin in person this morning and you will not believe how great the window up and the sunroof modules are! You all had better jump on this GB when it's ready to go. You will not be dissapointed! Support your site vendors. Chris

Thank God this took awhile because I'm just now seeing this. I thought specifically that this was the one thing I really wish my TSX came with, and now it can.

If it's not obvious, I am IN for the GB!

Also, what's the window up module do?

You can use your remote to put all your windows down, but you had to roll them up from inside the car using switches in the drivers side door. With this module you can now not only roll your windows down, but roll them back up with your remote.

LOL. I love the fact that you got this. Nothing like an in-person demonstration for this product to sell itself.

I use my one touch sunroof module everyday and the window's up module everyday. I wouldn't want to be without them now.

I'm not sure how hard that will be, but you can sign me up for that too.

This module is basically ready to go. I still have to create an install manual and that is all that is left. We actually have about 20 of them in stock, just need to get focused and finish the literature!
