"One Touch" sunroof Open/Close/Vent
Over the weekend I installed a KPtechnologies (www.KPtechnologies.com) "One Touch" sunroof control module in an Acurazine member's TSX.
The module is pretty simple to install, and the average install should take about 45 mintues from beginning to end.
In all there are 5 wires that need to be connected, 4 at the back of the sunroof switch and one in the main ignition harness that runs up to the ignition key cylinder.
If you pop of the drivers side under dash and remove the one screw from the drivers side lower dash inner bezel and remove the bezel you can easily access all the wires you need. I went a step further and popped out the sunroof switch by gently pushing it out from behind. The resulted in a nice scratch on my hand as the metal back there seems to be nice and sharp.
I took a few pictures and I will post them later, as time permits. I'm really not in a big hurry as of right now because I would like to test out the module with one more local member, and we have to start building them still.
As far as how it works, its pretty simple. KPtechnologies engineering always stresses OEM integration. That being said, if you push and hold any of the sunroof buttons down the sunroof will behave like normal. To activate the "one touch" you actually have to press and release the desired button and then press and release that same button again. Upon detecting the double pulse the module will activate an internal timer that will latch the output on until the sunroof has finished moving.
At any time during the automated movement you can push either of the other two sunroof buttons to cancel the automatic operation.
In comparison to the KPtechnologies 'OEM remote window up' module the "one touch" sunrood module is cake to install, and I would guess it can be done in half the time as the widow up module.
We plan on running a group buy on this module starting in the next few weeks, once we have some stock made up.
I would like to get a list stated as to who is interested in this module so I can plan how many to have manufactured.
The estimated MSRP price will be around $49.99, with the GB price being lower then that (most likely $39.99 + shipping).
So post up if you are interested!

Its more of a convenience in tapping the buttons and letting it close and open without keeping your hands there so that you can do other things such as both hands on the wheels or if u are getting out of the vehicle to gather things to head out.
If you are talking lazy then you should have opt for the wind down windows and the crank style open and close sunroof

Is there development on the auto lock/unlock module?

Moda_way doesn't have one yet, he is the next tester. The first tester was CentralCK (I'm pretty sure thats his name).
I also have one on my Fiance's Accord Sedan. She never uses the window module but she loves the sunroof one touch module.

Can this be linked to the output of the windows up module also? Atleast the closing part of it?

Hehe I hope it can be done, though not sure on how to pass wires from the door to the area where sunroof buttons are. Damn TL's have sunroof open by FOB stock so the module works for them...

This is not possible. In order for the sunroof to move the ignition has to be on, or at very least, the sunroof control module has to think the ignition is turned on.
The remote sunroof module we offer for the Infiniti is a fairly involved module, tapping into quite a few different wires. The Honda/Acura module would be very similar.
Thanks!

Thanks to Chris for letting me use his car to test this module!
This install is probably the easiest of all the modules we sell (except maybe the traction control memory module).
I'm not much for taking pictures of the disasembly, so I don't have any.
Taking the car apart was easy, I removed one screw from the drivers side lower dash inner bezel. With the screw removed the inner bezel pops out. I then removed the drivers side under dash by simply pulling down on it (its the black piece actually under the dash).
With these two pieces removed I could access the back of the sunroof switch. I reached my hand up and pushed on the back of the sunroof switch and the entire housing popped out. I unplugged the two switches and thats it!
I pulled back on the split loom tubing running up to the sunroof harness to reveal a bundle of wires.

My wiring digram told me:
Black - Ground (KPtech black wire)
Gray/Sky Blue - Sunroof Open (KPtech green wire)
Lt Green/Black - Sunroof Closed (KPtech blue wire)
Green/Orange - Sunroof Vent (KPtech orange wire)
In order for the module to work with the 'Vent' function you have to cut the 'Open' and 'Close' wires and install a diode in each one. This prevents backfeeding of voltages on the 'Open' and 'Close' wires during vent. If you do not want the 'One Touch' feature to work on the vents you do NOT need to cut these two wires. For reference only, the stripe is on the harness side. In the final production version the diodes will be color coded and easy to install, if chosen.
In order to make my connections on each wire I gently stripped about 3/8" of insulation back to expose the copper. I then wrapped the wire from the KPtech module securely around the exposed copper and soldered it with my butane iron.

After my connections were all made and covered with Scotch 33+ electrical tape I stuffed all the wires back in the split loom tubing and retaped the tube.

The final wire (yellow ignition wire) can be found under the dash in a large wire loom. It is Black/Yellow in color and is of a fairly large guage.
This is simply a low current ignition feed to power the module. It may be possible to find this wire elsewhere, such as in the fuse box if one desires. Since I tapped in to the main ignition wire on the vehicle I installed a 3A fuse inline between the Black/Yellow wire and the KPtech yellow wire.

Now, its time to test the module!
I turned the ignition on and pushed the 'open' button twice quickly. The sunroof opened completely! I then pusehd the 'close' button twice, and it closed!
I tested the vent function and it worked perfectly as well!
Please keep in mind that once the sunroof 'One Touch' module has been triggered the only ways to stop it are:
1. Turn the ignition off
2. Press either of the OTHER two sunroof buttons
If you push the same button again it will NOT stop the sunroof from opening.
Never operate the sunroof when anything is obstructing its path of movement (small animals and kids especially).
Never operate the sunroof when the sunroof in not within your view.
Please use this module with respect and common sense!
If there are any questions don't hesitate to ask!

I can. I have access to AllData if amadeus303 does not have the manual.

haha wow i just saw this post sorry for the late arrival. It was done on my car since i live so close to Kevin. Its a great mod that I have used several times already. Just 2 presses and it opens, closes or vents. Now i dont have to sit there with my finger on the button. It is a HUGE convienence ![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Id also like a one touch all windows up from the inside of the car also but i know Kevin said there is some anti-pinch issues which might cause it not to be doable for legal purposes.

The diodes will be included, with pig tails soldered on them. They will be heat shrunk so you won't even have to worry about the stripe. I will use different colors on each end and one color will be the harness side and one color will be the module side.
My goal is to make this as easy as possible to install!

I won't start a group buy until we actually have the product in stock and have all the supporting documentation. The circuit boards will be here in the next 10 days and then it will take about a week to build up the inventory and all that stuff. I would say a realistic date to start a group buy would be around June 19th.
