Not sure about that particular item #. But if the stamping on the hose is Fuel Line / PCV and it's of the correct size, then it's the correct one to use. It's slightly stiffer than regular fuel hoses. I bought mine off a reel and cut-length to fit.

Agreed. I ended up modifying my setup with bracket, similar to JTso's, and happy with the results.

I've been emptying mine pretty regularly, 1 week interval (I average 100miles everyday). I figure it's good to empty it often to reduce chance of fire if I ever get into an head-on accident. I know, I'm a safety freak

Hi all,

I have the same problem on my maxima. Got tired of emptying the oil/water separator weekly, so I bought a catch can on ebay and installed. This should last a full year before needing to be emptied:

AFTER

Ok, I am walking out the door to home depot to get the parts for this as well as the TB bypass and I am curious where the spiral disc is, I read the s2k posts but the pics dont work. is this on the filter its self? or on the pvc valve on top of the manifold?

It's inside the catch can between the filter and the body.

That thing is garbage. Don't get it. For best results, find something with a filter.

I'll sell you mine for $10 + shipping. I bought the exact same one from eBay long time ago and never installed it.

Just finished my oil catch can mod finally. It is slight different than others that i've seen. Thanks for all the info JTso. Just used a Campbell Hausfeld Air cleaner from Home Depot and ordered the bracket (part# MP5160) direct from Campbell Hausfeld.

Bent the bracket to fit on the left most radiator bolt. I don't have a hood prop bar, I have hood shocks from Redline Tuning, but if I did, it would still fit.

It looks good! Have you tried using two 90 degrees fittings? It should help reduce the bends on the hoses.

Hadn't thought about it, but I'm going to definitely look into it. The bends aren't bad since the hoses are still new, but I can definitely see after a bunch of heat cycles that they could collapse, so i'll probably stop by Home Depot and get a couple of 90 degree bends.

My other thought is if I don't see any oil in the catch can over the next few months, I might just put it back to stock... as I didn't see any evidence at this point even in the lines.

Thanks for the suggestion!!!

...burned oil from creating carbon buildup in the cylinders which, over time, will end up decreasing the engine's power output. The sooner you do this in an engine's life, the better.

Still haven't installed mine yet, but I have a question......

Does the oil that the can catches lubricate anything like gaskets? Once it's installed should it be bypassed every once in a while to lubricate anything? It's kinda scary to see how much oil this thing catches. I am just wondering if the amount of oil that passes through the line has been taken in to consideration by the Honda Engineers. It boggles my mind to think that every TSX out there burns about a quart of oil per year through this line.

The oil caught in the can is not used to lubricate anything. It's simply a by-product of an emission control process. Not every drop of oil is caught with the can. There's still a small amount will get pass the filter along with the crankcase vapor. Some other Honda engines do have an oil separator at the PCV valve but it's generally not as effective as a catch can.

Check out item #1 in the picture.

I put mine off of a bent bracket that used a radiator screw, but then again, mine is small. JTso has a bunch of locations if you read through the thread, but I think you need to get a bracket FIRST and then you'll see where.

I've posted my pics.

Can you post pics of the can? Perhaps the dimension as well, so we might be able to suggest a location. There's a good possibility a custom bracket is required.

If you have a CAI, then you can probably fit it in front of the battery like the pic below. You most likely need to fab up a bracket for it.

I have that exact can, JTso. I was able to find the bracket that Campbell-Hausfield makes for it though. Just a simple 90 degree wall mount kit, but I should be able to screw it into a vertical surface in the engine bay. Hope to get mine in this week, and I'll post pics when I do.

You were able to find a bracket to fit the bigger catch can? If so, where did you find the bracket at? Also do you do happen to have the part number?

I know a bracket exists for the smaller catch can

Cool! I'd like to see some pics. I might get a wall bracket to mount the filter for my air compressor.

Btw, try to use the bottom drain when draining the oil instead of removing the bottle from the body. The O-ring seal on the body will last longer that way.

hello,
I pretty much know nothing about car engines. I have read through the thread adn from what I understand this applies even to stock TSXs correct? The problem was merely found during the install of a modification but was not dependent on a modification being in place? For someone that knows nothing about engines will I still be able to do this once I get all the right pieces? Also, like others have suggested it seems like a lot of oil not to have been noticed and therefore addressed by the manufacturer. Why is this so?

Thanks
