OEM metal trim and Momo shift knob

Gotta love eBay. I got the OEM metal trim for $60 and the Momo shift knob for $69, both with free shipping. At first I didn't think the metal trim would look good but I like the style now and I couldn't pass up the price. I also like the bigger Momo knob than the OEM stock one.

Thanks Johnny! I appreciate the heads up on shaving the metal piece down on the OEM shifter. The knob is definitely nice and flush against the boot and shifter.

You'd be happy to know that I will be sending my ECU for the reflash on Monday. I just got my box from ClubRSX yesterday.

The metal trim was easy. Just peal and stick. Just make sure you clean the area prior to apply the trim. Each trim piece has tape that you just apply to the original area of trim.

Not feeling the shifter. Too big. All momos are like that tho. Also, I think metal trim seems a bit cheese. But all together I think it looks different and thats the best part! Very unique! Good job!!!

I need to see this metal trim kit in person. I've seen plenty of pics, but I still have to see it in person to tell if I like i or not. I think even then I would have a tough time deciding. I like the MOMO knob! I don't car how big it is, its MOMO!

The ebay seller was "ozthis". I was surprised he posted the kit on ebay for only $60 since these sell for over $200 at the dealership. I just got lucky the day I was checking.

Hi I received my MOMO shift knob
looks good...but I can't get it to tighten completely

I can still twist it after I applied the screw

since I got the cobra shape knob......it will matter...

how did you get it to tighten completely

You have to trim a metal piece on the stock shifter that prevents the stock shifter boot from going down. You need to pull up on the plastic housing around the shifter to get access to the stock shifter. You can then take a dremel to the metal piece around the shifter preventing the boot from sliding down. Just cut enough to push the shift boot down but still allowing it to hold the boot up once your finished.

sorry I have auto

when I mean it will twist means It will twist around in circle...
the knob will not secure as tight as the stock one

it won't move up or down...but it will twist around.

If you got sphere one you are fine....but I got the cobra one....so....it's really noticebal if knob is not centered...

Since I don't have an auto I don't have any other suggestions for you. If the cobra has tighting screws, just make sure all the screws are tightened appropriately.

I thought the OEM metal trim is just a swap out, not a sticker. I think you got a knock off metal trim. I've seen the sticker trim kits on ebay and I believe it is different from the OEM kit.

The OEM metal trim sticks onto the existing panels and they are not replacements. I have the Acura OEM box to prove that it is an authentic trim kit. The seller works at an Acura dealership.

Also look at the instructions...

https://www.***/Merchant2/instructio...orpanelkit.pdf

replace *** with honda_acura_world_._com

removing the underscores

They stick onto the existing panels

Damn stickers are a $200 option? I would've figured it would've been better than that. Might as well remove and spray paint it with matching metal trim. F that.

I agree, they are priced way to high. I would have never bought them for retail cost but I couldn't pass up the cost at $60.

Just wondering, is it a thin sticker that barely coats the black trim or is it thicker and sturdier?

All 8 pieces are well made of thick plastic. I like the look especially at night with the ambient light reflecting off the middle pieces.

I really like that shift knob, hate the factory one. Too small and dainty, and it's -- what? -- champagne color instead of silver? Anyway, is the Momo heavier than factory? I've been waiting for Dan's shift knob but I just can't take the factory knob anymore.

I don't think the Momo knob is heavier. I like shifting with it better than the OEM knob.

I was hoping it was heavier, but I still really like the way it looks -- it's bigger than stock, that's what I most want. Thanks for the feedback!

Did the kit come with all 9 pieces? Any more photos? I have been thinking of getting this since I got my car, two weeks ago. I had no idea that the kit was simply stickers, what a rip off for over 200 bucks. Looks great!!

I have been considering the metal trim kit for about a year. I agree with Cjams that I'd like to see it in person, but mostly the >$200 price has kept me from buying.
I still have the stock 6MT shift knob, but I've had Momos in 3 other cars. That one looks great with the trim kit!

Yes, I was fortunate to find someone who was selling a complete OEM kit for $60. I don't have pictures of the doors but the kit complements the interior and was well worth the money spent on eBay. I definitely wouldn't pay MSRP but for $60, it was well worth it.

I checked out the seller on e-bay. He has also sold RSX OEM spoilers for $50.00 and a set of rims from a CL for $100. Latest feedback I could check to see what items were bought from him. I will def. be checking in on him daily to see what he has for sale. Thanks for the info!

I originally ordered a Momo for my AT, and had the same problem, its almost impossible to get a good tight fit, I tried two. I sent them back and ordered a Razo, and it screwed on and fits like a glove.

I actually had a really hard time putting on my Momo as well. First I had a Momo Cobra, and those three pegs you had to insert equally, were a pain. It never stayed in place

Then I tried my luck with another Momo and got the Momo Competition. All I can say is, success! It has the same three peg method, but it's certainly a tight fit. I love it.

I might think of upgrading to a Razo as well. They look great!
