Nokya Yellow H11 - Too Hot?

I never never touched the foglight lens on the car, so never knew if the oem bulbs get hot or not. Got my Nokya's installed on MY06 TSX, with the Nokya's, I turn them on, and the foglight lens seem to get really hot instantly, so hot that you don't want to keep your fingers on there. Is this normal? Am I able to keep the foglights on far trips?

I don't have my Nokyas yet, but I've noticed the same thing with the stock bulbs in the foglights. I don't think it's anything out of the ordinary.

I've run them for a year with no problems. The stock bulbs get really hot too. It doesn't matter.

Glad to hear the hot foglight thing is normal, even on the stock bulb. I too have the Nokyas and have had them on for over 1/2 hour and no problems.

Yeah I've got the Nokyas and the rockblocker film on the lenses. All winter I didn't have trouble browning and I ran the fogs every day. Well now that temps are back in the 80's my lense protection is browning. Guess I'm going to have to leave them off during the day.

I purchased the Nokya's as well, they aren't too yellow of a yellow, more of a duller shade. I'm pretty happy with them, could be more happier if they were more neonish like the Lexus yellow. They do however fill more than the stockies do and really mesh well with the HIDs.

I just installed the RockBlocker film on my fogs and headlights last night and from a short trip to the bank and back (7 minutes total), my foglight film had bubbled up. It's back to normal now, but it's now showing spots where it got too hot. I contacted RockBlocker via e-mail and they acknowledged that the TSX foglights get hot but their only suggestion was to not have the lights on when the car is stationary for more than 5 minutes. Not really the answer I was looking for... and besides, my car was NOT sitting stationary for 5 minutes anyway.

you can adjust the height of the foglight beams too. There's a screw adjustment underneath so you can have them beam really far out, or close in if you want. Mine are set kinda in the middle. In a far out setting they are almost bright enough to drive with.

Can you be a bit more specific about where the screw adjustment is? I wouldn't mind adjusting mine to beam a bit further out.

The Hyper Yellows are 12V80W 2500K (Stage I)

Our stock fog lights are designed for 55W. You could do damage to your fogs.

I thought so at first too, but the bulbs are 55W despite the package saying differently. If you look at the base fixture it says "H11 55W", stamped right on it.I checked cold filament resistance with a multimeter and it was close enough to suggest that this is true.

This is good to know. I wonder why they would print 80W. I originally wanted to use Hoen Xeonmatch plus, but they told me that it would not be a good idea because the wattage is > 55W.

I had the same problem with my protection so I took them off. I was sacred that they might melt on to the lenses. You might want to have them off as well. How long it has been like that?

The screw adjustment for the fogs is underneath. You just stick a screwdriver up this hole in the underneath plastic.

The bulbs say 80W on the package because of some weird thing where they "project" 80w or something but they only consume 55w. I dunno. Go with what's on the base. the 80w is an advertising gimmick.

My covers have been melting for the last 3 weeks. Pretty big brown spots now. Of course it didn't help at all when I left my fogs on while me and my gf sat in the car for an hour. oops.

Thanks, I'll try adjusting it.

BTW, are you saying that the Nokya's are responsible for melting your foglight lenses?

If I remember right it says "80W look" or something to that effect (with the "look" being in very small letters). It's a stupid thing to do, because as we've seen it makes a lot of people think they're incompatible with the fixtures.

no I don't think that the nokyas are any hotter than other bulbs. I think for some reason our fog design means that the 3m protective covers will melt, not the lenses themselves.
