Newb Knob Question

Hi all,

After admiring the TSX, and wanting to purchase one, since it came out a couple of years back, I finally went and got one this last week. Picked it up Tuesday, '06 Nighthawk Black Pearl - 6MT w/ Navigation. For the previous 8 years, I had been driving a 1994 Honda Civic VX, point being, this is a HUGE change for me (btw, for those who say this car is “slow” or lacks power, let me just say it all depends on your frame of reference )

Anyway, as I have been interested in the TSX for a while, I had been looking at this forum for some time. The very evening I brought the car home, I went online and purchased: Skunk 2 Shift Knob, All Season Floor Mats, Trunk Liner, 350Z Coupe Cargo Net, and a Blue LED Interior Light Set from e-bay.

My question is about the shift knob. On my civic, I just gave it a turn and it rather easily unscrewed, same with my CRX before that. With my TSX, I tried doing the same by hand with no results. I am a bit hesitant to use too much force (if perhaps I am turning it in the wrong direction, as I don’t want to bind it up). Or perhaps there is another, somehow obvious step, that I am missing. I know this is a question. And I do promise I searched the forum, as well as goggle, for answer but found none. I am pretty sure it is simple matter of applying more force, just wanted to confirm that, as well as the direction in which to turn the knob (if perhaps it is reverse threaded).

Thank you all for your help in advance, and thanks in general to this forum for being such a great resource!

Regards
psychodoc

You need a wrench to loosen the locknut at the bottom of the knob. Turn it clockwise as you turn the knob counter-clockwise.
