new dvd player vs navi modification

hi all, i'm shiek from AZ. i was thinkin' about flat out just buying a dvd player and installing it below my radio. i have the navi as well. i figured it would be a few hundred dollars. but now i see yall have modified the navi to play dvds but with not the best quality. which do u think is better taking in acct the quality vs price?

The NAVI dvd unit doesn't play DVD's. Even if you add the converter, you need to buy a DVD player in order to play DVD's. You will also need a sound module to listen to the sound from that DVD player.

well, i guess thats a wrap... just flat out buying a new dvd player it is. ya know, i stopped in an audio store the other day, wondering if they had dvd players without navi (since i already have navi), and they told me since i have a factory navi, they really couldnt do anything. ok, let me back up, all their dvd players had navi anyways. but i just wanna make sure i'm not on a goose chase... there IS a way just to install a basic dvd player (i'm thinkin with flip screen) to my car without having to adjust my factory navi isn't ther?

If I were you. I would get DOM's Navi converter, along with an AUX convertor for the factory deck. Those two together would probably run you about $250-$300 for parts.

Then get a DVD/mp3 player/TV tuner unit and install it in the storage bin so the door still closes.

Here's a good one that I heard can even play mp3 DVDRs

Probably run you around $150 for the player.

So that's less than $500 in parts. An aftermarket flip out DVD/mp3 unit is probably going to run close to $1000, so it's more expensive.
