Need a little help with some wiring
I'm trying to add some LED's to the interior of the car (footwell, and possibly puddle lights), so that they light up when you unlock the car just like the dome lights. Does anyone know where I can find the wires that will have power when the door is unlocked (e.g. the wires that goes to the map lights)? I don't want to take things apart to trace these wires, and want to find the portion of the wire that is near the fuse box or possibly in the door.
Any help would be appreciated

First off, the multiplex unit in the fuse box grounds the ceiling lights to turn them on. Ceiling light has constant +12V at all times
5 pin connector on the back side/top of the fuse box has green/red wire in pin 4 (2nd from end). This is the ceiling light ground control circuit wire. I'd suggest testing with a meter to make sure you've got the right wire before you splice into it.

i have a milano red tsx and i installed the red lights on all the dome lights and red 10 inch neon bars on the footwells of both passenger and driver side. i went to best buy and had them install it from one of my friends that worked their who is a genious with all the wires and stereo type of stuff. i also have red neon underneath the car. i had both of these lined up on 2 seperate switches right next to the VSA switch. They kinda look like nitrous switches. but anywase they are hooded up to the battery and can be turned on at any point even when the car is off. They look really nice and i highly recommend it being on a switch where you can turn them on and off.
To me its just a little more convening having the ability to have them on and off whenever you want, but hey, maybe thats just me

I did this with my 4runner. I didn't use LED's. But i used regular bulbs and installed footwell lighting into it. I basically loosened up the headliner and ran wires to the bulb that i wanted the lights to follow. In the 4runner it was a bulb that was clamped by 2 metal things. I just twisted the positive and negetive leads on either side of there and everything was good. It's not like LED's use up much power anyways. So you should be good to go. Worst case scenario solder in a resistor in the line somewhere.
