Need help finding bolt for pulley.. desperately!

I was replacing the belt on my TSX this weekend, and ended up stripping the threads for the bolt for the idler pulley. After taking the bolt out, I realized that with the CT supercharger, only about 10mm of the bolt is going into the hole. I figure an easy way to fix this is to find a longer bolt... unfortunately I haven't been able to find one! I believe that the idler pulley bolt should have been longer (the one in the CT instructions uses the 50mm length, but in reality this bolt should be 70mm, due to the thickness added by the tensioner). Does anyone know where to find a bolt with the following specifications:

Size: M10
Length: 70mm
Grade: 10.9
Head: Flange hex

I've left a message with CT Engineering as well, but have not heard back.

Hey Steve,

Sorry to hear about your problems. I believe I was able to go to a Napa Auto Parts to get extra bolts for my setup.

Is the original bolt a 45mm?
If so, here's info on the original bolt.

Here's a image of the #20 bolt that I mentioned above. It is used a different way in our setup, but does that look to be the original bolt?

I called Napa Auto already . They don't carry it. The original was 50mm in length, but a size 10. The 8 x 45 are the ones used to hold the tensioner, but not the idler pulley (it uses the 10). Also, I need to find high grade steel (10.9 metric equivalent to standard Grade 8).

I did find a place in Maryland after making a few calls. They need to order the bolt, but I should have it by the end of the week. What started as a 10 minute job, has now turned into a week long project!

I just looked at the install instructions, and I see what bolt you are talking about now. It's the M10X50 that connects to the CT-E supplied Power steering bracket and goes through the M10 spacer.

Yeah, I longer bolt should definitely help things. Just make sure that it isn't too long. I forget if you can thread that bolt all the way through on the the PS bracket side. I don't have the static setup in front of me at the moment, so you should check your setup to be sure.

Also, you may even want to contact CT-Engineering tomorrow. They may be closed for Columbus day. They may even be able to direct you to a more local place to locate the bolt.

Good luck Steve. Let me know you need any help or anything. I'm not too far and I still remember how you helped me when I replaced my belt awhile back

I didn't realize that today was a holiday, so will definitely try calling them again tomorrow. Maybe they could send me another PS bracket, since I think the short bolt is a fault on their end. The hole has over 30mm of threads and the bolt they supplied only goes in about 10mm. To torque that bolt to 30 ft-lbs is just asking for trouble. I'll let you know how it turns out.

^^ Yeah, I would definitely ask them to cover it for you or give you a big discount. I've heard they are good about taking care of their customers.

Look up an industrial fastener supply store in your area. There are a few in the Ottawa area and I've found numerous hard to find bolts and nuts at them before. The one I go to is called "Brafasco" if it helps you at all.

No luck, I did check out fastenal, but they did not carry it. I just got in touch with Comptech, and they actually were able to give me a part# from Honda for a longer bolt. I called and should have the bolt by tomorrow. I knew Honda would carry such an item, but they weren't able to help without a part# since they are unable to look up bolts using specifications.

Yeah, I would have done that too, but unfortunately none of the stores carry it in stock. In any case, I did go to Honda today and picked up the bolt, so I should be good to go. In case anyone else ever needs this the part# is 95701-1007008 from Honda.

This is for M10 x 70, 1.25 pitch, 10.9 grade, flange head bolt.

Hey Tsx536! Where did you find that diagram? I've been looking for that, but I also need the parts list that coordinates with the numbers listed on the diagram.

Please help.
