Mods and Emissions Testing

My tags are up in July and I thought I'd throw this out there early in case there's anything I need to prepare for.

Has anyone gotten crap during the testing/inspection for certain mods?

Here are the mods I have that I think could cause potential trouble, depending on how diligent of an official looks at the car.

- 20% tints all around (CT, 35% is legal limit)
- Injen CAI/TopSpeed Header/RT Cat/Tanabe exhaust. Car doesn't throw CELs, ever (no defouler trick either), but smells like it runs a little rich
- JDM headlights (no amber side reflector)
- JDM taillights (no side lightbulb)

Aside from that I should be good. Am I being overly paranoid, or does anyone have experience/tips to share?

Thanks.

- Matt

was wondering aobut the cat converter myself. the rules say you can only replace under various scenarios.

so what happens if you replace it anyways for performance purposes? do you get ticketed? does anyone even care?

I can't speak for Connecticut. In California your intake, exhaust header, and catalyst will not pass the visual portion of the emissions test unless they have an "EO" number attached stating that they have been certified for the car.

Maybe someone familiar with CT auto emissions law will chime in here.

Since CT has government run testing facilities (as opposed to Mass. where you can "shop around" a bit), along with my cousin's experience (she lives in CT), that would lead me to believe you're screwed. My guess is you could conceivably have problems with all the items on that list. I'll leave it to others that actually live in CT for a more definitive answer to your questions though.
