Maven Shift Knob

Remember this thread:

https://acurazine.com/forums/acurazine-articles-2/introducing-acurazine-shift-knobs-307262/

Well, I think I found it on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Maven...08209931QQrdZ1

...it has the same weight specs and shape, but seems to be made from a different material.

wow, either dan put his knobs up for sale or somebody jacked his images

I just picked up the Skunk2 knob yesterday, I'd be pissed if the AZ knobs were going into production

I saw the Maven knob on eBay a week or two ago and strongly considered picking one up. But I already have a Skunk2 and decided against it. Someone needs to ginuea-pig this one, though!

Man up. It isn't about comfort during the winter or summer, its about shifting. Besides, you have 2 other seasons where the knobs are fine.

Put a sock over the knob when parked. I have the Maven knob and like it enough to retire my DC5R knob.

We don't get trim rings on ours over here!
It's a plastic bollocks of a thing that clips into the knob, as you can see in the first group of photos.
I had to invert the leatherette boot and zip-tie it to the lever.
It's only temporary as I'll be swapping in a short-shifter soon and working on something a bit special.

Can't the Maven Shift work with AT too??? Since our AT shiftknob does not has a shift button on it?

It's a different thread for the AT knobs. I've got an AT version in the works though...

Is there an adapter that would make it work?

Unfortunately not, the difference between the two threads is too small to use a thread adapter. Plus, the bottom would look weird if you screwed the MT knob on an AT car. The AT version will have a tapered bottom that matches the shift lever better.

Does it screw itself all the way down to the top of the boot without leaving a gap, or did you have to prop the boot up from inside?

It's propped up from under the boot.

It screws down a little more than a 1/2" farther than the stock knob, but there's about a 1/4" gap between the boot and the knob.

Is there going to be a version with the gear numbers engraved in it? I guess it wouldn't work well with the curved surface....

So... it can get 1/2" shorter than stock? Would it be the same height if you used the stock locking nut, or am I missing something?

This seems like a better idea than a short-shifter, but I'd still like to hear some more comments/reviews.....

You can use the locknut if you'd like, but I designed it to sit lower than stock. The weight and shorter height make a very noticeable difference in shift feel.

You don't need the locknut since there isn't shift numbers. So the knob can sit lower. If you use the locknut, the height will be similar to the DC5 knob.
