Don't do the license plate LED mod, the LEDs fail very quickly due to the high amount of vibration in that area. I've never heard of the LEDs lasting more than a few months when they're placed there.

I've also heard that the LEDs don't really make practical replacements for the dome lights in the TSX because they are simply too dim to be functional. Although they look cooler and have the "wow factor" I've always heard that they aren't bright enough.

I'm thinking of changing the lights in my doors to LED, but I don't think I'd do the map or dome lights.

I would agree that switching the license plate lights with LEDs isn't a great idea. I've gone through 2 sets already and switch them back. With all the closing of the trunk and other vibrations, for some reason they just don't last long.

HOWEVER, I will completely disagree with you on the interior LEDs. I've had my 6LED festoons for a long time and they are quite functional. You do have to make sure that when you install them that you face the LEDs downward since they are festoons. My wife loves to turn them on at night and it drives me a little nuts b/c they are so bright white. One caveat, using the switch to turn them on is useless. The switch seems to send less current than using the map light click-on.

Thanks for the info. I guess i shouldn't change the lisence plate then, i can't even get that damn light out... it only went partially out..

I changed my doors already, but the dome and the rear over power the door, so i can't even see it. I wanted white LED dome, but from what i heard form people, blue match better since our interior lights are blue (the one facing the shift knob, and the one under the audio panel). My friend brought me the 6LED festoons and it didn't fit.. he said i need 4LED ones, the 6 LEDS are too long. HOw did yours fit?

5 months and still bright and functional,

I installed white single LED's for the license plate lights. Do you guys SLAM your trunk? What part of the LED bulb actually gets damaged that causes them to not work?

well, it's not just the GS.... i've seen white LEDs on other cars (my friends' A4 and Benz) lisence plate. I think it looks nicer than the warm yellow we have. Just some little details to make my car stand out...

but xenonhid, you have no problems with the LEDs?? mind posting how they look like and how to take that stupid cover off?

I too changed my license plate light to LED and have had no problems, and that was back in November about 5000 miles ago. I recommend this site. The lights look awesome -- so bright white they almost look bluish.

I think he's talking about the lisence plate lights? I can't get out that tab either...at first. But you have to use a flathead screwdriver and REALLY give it a push...is there other way of doing it? Even when i pull it out..i can't seem to take off the blub...

I've posted this before, but you get to the lights behind the trunk lid carpet.

1. Open trunk
2. Remove 3 plastic screws and clips from the trunk lid carpet liner
3. Peel back trunk lid carpet
4. Look for the license plate bulb housing
5. Squeeze license plate bulb socket and pull out bulb.

Very simple.

I dont actually think they are LED's for the fogs but the bulb replacements are H11 i believe. They appear more white with no yellowish tint.

I will prolly do the fogs in about a month or so. I have a hole in one of my lenses so it needs to be replaced anyways and i might as well chance the fog light when im messing with it.

i thought the UV would be really sweet but i just went for the White and damn they sure are bright white and really clean/clear.

i just got the leds from superbrightleds and sadly, iam dissapointed with them. I installed them and they look whiteish/blueish. Kinda ricey to me as I wanted the Lexus white like you see on the is250/350. I think with the leds, they are too focused and not dispersed out like a regular bulb. I could be wrong but can anyone tell me where to buy bulbs that would give that look?

I did some voltage measurements of the OEM 168 Bulbs for the license plate and door panels , It measured approximately 4.78V. Majority of the wedge type LED bulbs Theshold Voltage is around 5v but will be dimmer than stock because it will take 12v- 24v to be bright. If you want to go brighter than stock then go for surface mount LED. The Threshold voltage are rated lower and optimal Are around 5V. Here is the link to surface mount 168 LED for door and license plate. These are the best in the market. I will post some pics if I could figure this out. I'm new to the forum.
