LED 3rd Brake Light Conversion

LED 3rd Brake Light Conversion
Well, say goodbye to the standard issue incandescent 3rd brake light. The removal of the original 3rd brake light was pretty simple, only a flat screw driver required. Also managed to get it out without breaking anything.
Two things that I like about this.
1. Brake light is more visible to the other drivers.
2. No hump in the rear view.
I didn't take the picture perfectly at the center, so it looks off center.

LED assembly was from a rear spoiler of a vehicle of my coworker. The owner took it off as he wanted a clean "sleeper" look, and I took it off his hands, and just used the LED assembly.
I covered the whole assembly up with matching automotive fabric on the inside, so it looks almost like it is supposed to be like that.
I would do a diy, but all it is is splicing into the stock wiring and mounting the light where the old one was.

There should be a meet somewhere around SE Michigan. If there is one, tell me, cuz I want to meet the local TSX dudes in SE Michigan. All of the major meets are like in California and Florida, where the weather actually doesn't suck.
I'm an alumni. COE.
I didn't have the luxury of owning a TSX while still in college.......

I like the look of the rear. I too am thinking of debadging the "ACURA" emblem, it looks good. It has BMW feel to it. Just now that I've seen a picture I will most definitely do it this weekend!

There are 4 tabs.
1. Pop the trunk and look underneath where the CHMSL assembly is.
2. You will not see the entire assembly, as the CHMSL clips onto the top layer of sheet metal, and there is one more layer of sheet metal underneath it. However, there is a small hole on the bottom layer of sheet metal, and you can look through the hole to find the silver clips. Locate them. There are two.
These two silver clips are the two of the four holding the CHMSL onto the sheet metal. The other two clips (near the backwindow) are just hooks, so they come free after the silver clips are free.
3. Wiggle a flathead onto one of the silver clips and push the plastic clip in, while having someone pull up on the CHMSL. The silver clip should go up, and unsnap from the top sheet metal.
Once one of the clip is free, go to the backseat, facing the rear window.
4.Push the entire CHMSL assembly towards the rear window while slightly pushing up, the second clip should come free.
5. Once the two silver clips are free, all you need to do is lift the assembly up and wiggle the assembly back and fourth, pulling it towards you. It may be a bit tricky, as the rear window is in the way, but it comes out without breaking anything. Make sure you unhook the bulb though.
