just received Injen CAI/SRI SP1431, Question...
What would be the difference installing as SRI, as opposed to CAI, in terms to power. Any info or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

You have the new version Injen?
Well in that case....

Seriously, though I'd appreciate some pics since I haven't seen the 1431 version that is supposed to be tuned for the TSX.

If it is the new version, I'd be interested to know if the hole for the IAT sensor on the throttle boot was moved to a better location.
Someone at Injen decided that stretching the wires from the connector plug was a good thing.

To answer your original question I believe the consensus is about a 5 hp difference. In SRI mode your looking at about 6-8 hp increase. In CAI it's more like 10-12. If you're worried about hydro-lock don't. As long as you don't drive through a river you'll be fine. I've driven in mega rain storms and even hit a few big puddles with no ill effects.

well i got it in! Nice addition. first i tried out the short ram. Not liking it at all. Definately gains in the high range, but i was looking more low. So me and my roomate took off the front bumper, and proceeded to install the CAI. Well, it sounds awesome. Very nice growl at WOT. Can't get myself out of SS mode! I am really happy with this product, and a quick shout to Excelerate Performance for their help with getting the part and answering a few questions. I would reccomend them to everyone. Side note: while testing it out driving around, came up next to a crx, got ballsy, and decided to try a quick run. Too bad i didn't realize it was turbo until they wound out first gear. great.....Now i need a s/c

Congrats!
Is this your first mod? You'll enjoy it, especially the sound. It's great going through tunnels/overpasses; even better if you have a reflash.
BTW, you'll actually get worse low end torque with it in CAI mode, but much better after about 3500 rpm. It's all due to the added distance the air has to travel. Definitely worth it though IMO.

Johnny, I just ordered the SP1431BLK, did you try to install it without removing the bumper? I saw the FAQ of doing CAI Injen and he didnt remove it. SO should I remove the bumper or not? Thanks!!

curik, this new Injen actually has smaller diameter tubing and less top end HP gain than the older one, but it is thus more in tune with the factory intakes air consumption, and provides more low end torque/hp. Its a give/take thing, this one gives up top end gain to provide less loss of low end power.
...or at least, that the theory. This one hasn't been extensively dyno'd yet.

Thanks Reach! The Injen website has a comparison between the two. But it seems that the one without MR technology is different to the dyno for the TSX on the testing section.

Good morning all, I'm sitting on the fence on getting the RD1430 for $220 or spend the extra cash for the SP1431. Is it worth the extra $50? I will be doing this Injen upgrade with the Hondata Reflash.......What would you do? I'm a newbie to the whole modify world Thanks!

You might need to contact Norm directly. I was looking for the RD1430 black but he said the new SP1431BLK has replaced the RD. THe 1430 is $195 and the 1431 is $229.

I'm just going to get it from someone else.......Thanks everybody for your help. I can't wait to feed my TSX with more cold air. Peace.
I just sent one out last week to an AZ member.......

This is possibly going to sound like a really anal question, but hey I'm a perfectionist so here it goes. There are two models of the Injen SP1431, one in black and other in polish. The black one is actually powder coated black, would that mean it would insulate more heat since there's actually paint coating the piping? So would the polish technically be a better buy? I personally think the black looks better but not at the expense of generating/insulating more heat, if so it's probably by a miniscule margin. Hey, I warned you I was anal.
