Just A Little Something In My Trunk...

So there was a question of who is running nitrous on their TSX. Well, let's see... ME! I have a Zex Wet Kit and I absolutely LOVE it! No dyno, but my little 55-shot makes a noticeable difference.

Nice! That's only like the 3rd wet setup I've seen on a TSX. Do you have any concerns about long term usage? I know nothing of nitrous.

Nah, I'm not worried. They say a good rule of thumb to follow is never exceed 50% power increase to your current engine output. Plus, if I can help it, I try not to over-indulge! LOL...

The Zex Wet Kit cost about $450 + the purge kit. Speaking of which, I almost forgot to post my favorite picture... PURGE!

You can DIY. It comes with instructions on how to install and program the brain.

LOL... cool. Next time we meet up, I'll have to remember to turn OFF the traction control before I launch! You gotta hear the tires break loose!!!

Uh, yeah, somehow this is jumping to the top of the list of things I want to do

Is the purge kit necessary? Or is it just for showing off?

The purge kit clears the lines. If you really wanna show off, you can get a dual purge with an illuminator that lights up the purge cloud in red, blue, or green. I'm sure it would look cool, but it's a little too showy for me!

Being a wet kit, does this mean its piggybacked on the injectors, or is it still a single spray nozzle.

I'm not familiar at all with nitrous kits.

What's the legality of nitrous anyway? Think I'd have any problems in MA?

I've wanted a bit of extra power for a while but dont want to spend the $5k for a supercharger...this might be a cheaper alternative

Wet means a mixure of fuel and nitrous goes through the single spray nozzle. Basically, you have a fuel line and a nitrous line that merge, going into your intake.

tampa tsx girl, why not go for the 75 shot? it will definately be better. The Zex nitrous plugs are definately under rated. A 55 shot of Zex is much weaker than a 55 shot of NX (or most other nitrous companies).

According to what ive heard, Zex rates their "shots" by measuring the extra horsepower at the crank. Most of the other nitrous companies rate thier "shots" by measuring the extra horsepower at the wheels.

Just something you might want to check out

So, you don't need extra tuning with a 'wet kit', and it can just plug and play?

Also, tampa tsx girl, which zex kit did you get? (part number please if you have it)

...ahhh, nothing like smooth open roads...those from tampa know all about how open I-75 / I-4 can get...You'll notice most avid drivers from florida will take advantage of the vast open roads we have, letting out TSXys go all out...its pretty easy to take advantage of a nitrous wet kit with roads like these down here...even with a non nitrous 6-Speed its hard to stay under 100 on a highway...

I guess it's just me, but nitrous on a TSX is about as pointless as a 6 foot wing and a fart can on a Civic.

tampa girl do you have a reflash?

and how did you hook up the tps?

I have been thinking about this for the longest time, I used to have a kit just sitting in my closet but it was a dry kit so I just sold it. have been wanting to get a wet kit ever since
maybe now I´ll go ahead and try it out.

Wow, that's pretty cool...I like the Purge pic!!

Just don't ever get the Hondata reflash. You want to retard timing with a NOS setup, and the Hondata reflash advances timing.

I wonder if the new engine management coming out by AEM will be able to help you tune for your new setup

Yeah there's a risk to it, it just depends on how big your pockets are...you can bend valves, blow up the motor, ruin the piston rings, and accelerate wear on an auto tranny.

We had a car in the shop that exhibited some of these problems, and we think it was the nitrous he was using...he was using a dry shot too...thats a whole lot worse for the motor than a wet kit.

Nitrous works by the decomposition of Nitrous oxide into nitrogen and oxygen inside the cylinders. Normal air contains 21% oxygen, and compressed nitrous oxide contains much much more usable oxygen per unit volume. A wet kit employs an enrichment fuel line in order to blend nitrous and fuel together to minimize the chances of improper air/fuel/nitrous mixtures. With a dry kit, it just sprays liquid nitrous and you hope that it all mixes with the fuel that is being sprayed independently...

The best option for nitrous oxide is direct port injection. This is where each cylinder has it's own dedicated supply of nitrous and enrichment fuel. It's like adding another set of injectors entirely. This way there is no horsepower bias in the motor and everything runs smoothly. If you look at most of the high performance nitrous motors that are out there, are usually use direct port injection.

No offense meant, but having grown up in New Mexico that sounds pretty funny. If you want wide open, I suggest driving on I-25 from Socorro, NM to Truth or Consequences, NM on a weekday. There is one exit between them in the ~80 mile span - it goes to a little restaurant on the side of the road. You might see 1-2 other cars during the transit.

Northern Nevada is even more sparse...

Tuning would not hurt, but you don’t really need it unless you intend to run a big shot. I upgraded my spark plugs already and when I go with a bigger shot, I will retard the timing.

And the part # is 82021.

Eventually that’s the plan!

No reflash. That would kill my motor since it advances timing!

You have to use the APPS (Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor) which is located on the passenger side at the firewall.

Hey, not that many people using nitrous around here, and you're the only one who's responsive. Thanks for the answers.

I would be curious about tuning options to run this reliably in the future.
