Question JDM Spare Tire

Just curious since I was looking through an old thread.

Does anyone know if the 17" JDM spare tire would fit in the same space our donuts are in now?

that picture is just showing a generic jdm spare. I believe it is a requirement in japan that all spares be yellow.

I'm more interested in it since I sport the 19's in the summer and the JDM 17" spare has got to give me more clearance than the OEM donut. Plus I hear that some JDM spares may clear BBK's since some cars over there come with Brembo calipers from the dealer.

A full size wheel will fit in the well, but you won't have a flat boot floor -- it will stick up slightly.

Accord Euros in Australia were released in 2003-4 with a space-saver spare. There was sufficient demand (space savers are a big issue in Australia) that full size spares were implemented for 2005 models onwards -- but the boot floor is raised over the wheel well, and the jack and tools are relocated to one side.

I hear getting organ transplants from Japanese donors is all the rage at shows nowadays. You know them JDM kidneys give you 5 hp apiece!

really is that so man. I have intake, header, cat, exhaust. I dont have a reflash or forced induction but that will be changing this fall. Also I have tein flex coilovers which change the handling 10 fold in my opinion. So not really sure how its show and no go. Thanks for your uneducated input though.

I definitely agree cars should be show and go I just chose to do show first go second. No where did I ever say I was done with the car.

Mods - please close this thread since it's been

To those that had a relevant response, thanks again.

HaPPy jU1cE - I think the OEM donut is way to short for a lowered car with a kit. If I had to use that thing in the summer, I'd be leaving chunks of the Mugen kit behind If I ever get a new set of rims, I'll probablyy order a 5th rim to keep as a summer spare. But can't beat the JDM spare if it clears a BBK

The JDM space saver spare in my Euro R comes in black (not orange or yellow)...cant remember if it's 17", will check & let u know BUT it does not fit BBK. Actually, most of us here think if u have a flat in the front...put the space saver on the rear and put the normal wheel back on the front....reason being that the smaller sized wheel on a driven & turning hub can cause problem to suspension, driveline & steering components...

Thanks for the info & please let me know if you guys have a 17" spare. I'm looking into a specific JDM spare, not necessarily from the Euro-R's, that is 17" and does clear a BBK.

I have read of not using the spare for a front tire flat which makes sense, but I'm still interested in the size of the spare even if it's for the rear.

Ok, that was a hyperbole. But it's a 5AT. I just can't imagine pouring all that money and labor into a car when your biggest bottleneck is the transmission.

I just don't get the whole JDM thing when the car was 100% built in Japan to start. Who cares what badges are on the car or for God's sake what kind of spare tire you have in the trunk? Just look at the King Motorsport Mugen TSX which tested slower than stock - I really do hope you do better than that, Colt.
