Red face intake manifold gaskets

i just confused the hell out of myself as far as i know there are 3 different types of img for 2004-05 tsx:

comptech
hondata
p2r

now, i already have the comptech unit and just ordered the p2r -- will they work in conjunction with eachother? i know that hondata and p2r will work together ... i'm running under the assumption that the ct/hondata img are essentially the same thing?

please help,
vinny

Check it out: https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...6&postcount=13

Hondata gaskets is #11 and P2R thermal intake gasket is #3. Hondata gaskets is in Injector base and P2R is in intake manifold. Check link for P2R gasket with model #103, but 113 is same type of Hondata gasket. But Comptech is same as Hondata, but I believe Hondata is probably better. I already order P2R gaskets already and expecting to get it by Saturday.

not sure where the comptech one fits, but i know you can use the p2r and hondata gaskets at once. they're just placed in different parts of the intake manifold.

i actually have both sitting in my apt. i just need to find a time to install them.

Yes Hondata and Comptech gaskets serve the purpose. So it comes down to you choice which you want to go with

Install is not bad, but check Jtso's Hondata gasket installation. It is very good information how to install.

if you look at the helms manual diagram, you'll see the comptech/hondata gasket sits further in the components (as per the jtso thread), while the p2r is like right after the IM.

kinda weird that p2r doesn't include instructions, but i guess they just people can figure it out.

edit-refer to gsgomez's post. he described it correctly.

Easily! If you did your install of the Hondata or Comptech gasket. The P2R gasket is basically the same, just minus a few steps. All you gotta do is remove the IM, no need to remove anything else beyond that.

It's easy. Remove IM and remove OEM gasket. Install P2R gasket, install IM and fasten

Yeah, definitely DO NOT do what the Comptech or Hondata instructions tell you b/c the P2R is not the same.

How much detail would you like?

For instance, you have to remove the IM cover (says iVTEC on it), you have to remove a bolt/bracket that supports the IM from underneath, you have to remove the TB intake tube, etc etc. To you need torque specs too? Since this is an aluminum piece, you do not want to over tighten.

It was not hard to install IM gasket but it took me for a while to install it. You have to take time and be patient. What color of spacer do you have? Picture? Let me know.

If you are installing the P2R gasket, I recommend that you change the stud to a longer one. The stock ones are very short and easy to strip.

Just get a stud remover and a pair of vice grips. Loosen it with the stud remover and then use the vicegrips/pliers to turn it anticlockwise till it comes out. Of course, buy new longer studs of the correct thread pitch first!

It shouldn't be too hard. Just use the "double nut" method. Tighten two nuts on the stud against each other and turn the inner nut counter-clockwise.
