Installing OEM body kit

Just bought the OEM body kit. Any tips or things to be aware of during the install. I printed the instructions from hondacuraworld.com and the install looks straightforward.

You won't have much trouble but plan on a half day of work and it does go a little faster if you can get a friend to help you out. It might be a good idea to start early on a Saturday in case you need to make a dash to the Acura parts department to pick up some clips if you break them. The parts do snap in pretty easily though.

Be sure to take some pics while you're doing the install. Sounds like a good thing to have on record...

I installed my kit last Friday with the help of my wife. We took our time and finished in about 3-4 hours. As stated above I also had to buy 4 clips the following day at Acura, so it was not really a bid deal. I used 2 floor jacks but only to get a better view at what I was doing. I know some people have installed the kit easily without lifting the car in any matter.

Hey Greg, you mean the wife didn't kill you for buying the body kit and she even helped you installing it? Now, that's a good wife.

Yes, I was quite surprise myself. She is all over the stuff now. Nothing dinner, movie, and a night out could not fix.

I still sleep with one eye open tho

gsclifton - lucky dog you!! your wife is a keeper, I ask my wife if we could get the kit and she pretty much said, over my dead body!

I think I'm gonna have to buy the kit, install it at my friends house and drive it home and not say anything and see if she notices.... and if she says something, I'll just say that's the way it came We'll see if that works...

I also want to lower the TSX just a slight bit maybe a 1.5 inches to fill the wheel wells... so my next plan is to buy some coil overs and lower it half an inch a month until is just perfect

You think she'll notice??

Anyway you have a cool wife... my wife use to have a lowered civic, but I guess she out grew it and I haven't, oh well...

For the body kit owners, if you notice a bit of wind buffeting while driving 60+mph then get a spacer to fit between the body kit anchor (mid way down that actually attaches to the underside of the car) and undercarriage. The 'pin' tneds to work itself out loosely; the spacer just keeps it snug.

Is that for the front or back?

Can someone explain to me how they got those clips off the car without breaking them?

I've installed the front kit but I broke almost all of the clips in the process.

any suggestions?

Pry on them with one or two flat-head screwdrivers along with some patience and some force

I broke several of them on the fog light install as well as the kit install. I expect to mutilate some more on the CAI install.

Alright, I guess I'll try to take it easy and have some more patience when I install the side skirts. But you do have to pry those things off, I just thought that seemed wrong for some reason.

Can you get more clips from an acura dealer?

It is also much easier to pry the clips off with the front or back jacked up on a jack or stands.

one quick question...
after the bodykit is installed, what do you guys use to protect the brand-new kit? what kinda product do you guys put on?

a couple of zaino coats should be good!?

or there's something for better protection?

I dont feel Zaino protects well at all. It is very thin. I like to use Meguires Gold Glass. Leaves a more dimensional shine
