Installed DC header and CAI

I finally got my header in and I installed it earlier today with the help of a buddy of mine. Overall the install was not that bad at all. It took us about 3 hours because we were having a problem with the actual exhaust manifold nuts and bolts. After a ton of WD-40 and struggling we figured out the dual wrench trick for a make shift breaker bar. After that it was cake.

Also, I installed the cold air portion of the Injen intake. I've been running the shortram setup for about 4 months or so, so I thought it was time just to finish it up. Something I found interesting was that if you take out the black blank panel that goes where the fog light should be, you now have a ram air setup. So I'm going to take that piece to work and just cut out the low spots on it so you won't beable to tell. I'll take some pics when I'm done.

So I think I'm done with my car for awhile. It sounds mean as hell now with that header. I'm just hoping I don't have any problems with it like a couple of people have had (cross my fingers)

Do you feel any gains in power with your mods? You didn't mention that at all.

Oh yeah!!....I forgot to mention that part. I do notice gains. The most noticable gains to me are felt in the midrange, right around the 4500-5500 range. And it just keeps pulling past redline like a champ. Overall I am very happy with the intake and the header. I feel they were worth the money. I just can't wait to get my car on a dyno.

Good! I'm sure it sounds sweet when she hits VTEC. Let us know on dyno and 1/4 mile times!

Alright guys I got some pics of the fog light cover that I modified, check it out...

Spo0n y0!!

As you can see it actually should work. What I was thinking of doing down the road is to run some sort of tube from the cover up to the filter. Let me know what you guys think.

It looks good! You might want to add a mesh screen behind the vent cover to catch some bugs. Mine caught plenty of them.

Are you worried about any water getting in there with the ram air effect at highway speeds? I had a CAI on my type R and always read that the only danger of hydrolock is if your filter goes into standing water .. I never had any problems, however, your setup allows water to come straight in through the front fog light hole in wet conditions.

?

Yeah I'm a little concerned about water injestion. But the key words there are "standing water". The filter is close to a foot off the ground, so I would almost have to be fording through water for enough to get up to the filter to hydrolock the motor. It's been raining like crazy for the past couple of days and I've had no issues with water. You just have to be careful and don't drive through extremely deep water. Also, with the oils that are on the filter itself, if some water just splashed onto the element it would just beed off.

I got the Injen intake off Ebay for $210 shipped, just after it was released. And the DC header was $265 shipped from accsuperstar's friend.
