Installed Comptech header, RT cat, and Evo2

Three hours on a lift and everything is in. I was very impressed with the fit and finish of all three pieces. Only gripe is that the cat should be o-ringed or at least come with the needed gasket. After four hours of driving, I got the CEL. I'll install the defouler next chance I get. The sound is great, and much lower than I expected.

You will find out when you have it install, you will love it.

Prepare to get a defouler as most ppl w/ HFC has CEL.

The TSX ECU has very strict parameters for exhaust flow so when it sees more flow than it likes it throws a CEL for Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold P0420. You can just add a defouler (basically an extension for the 02 sensor to push it further away from the exhaust stream) and it will eliminate the CEL. I have them for $20 shipped for straight defoulers or $30 for the angled one or you can make your own for like $8-$10.

If you buy them, you need to drill them out slightly with a 1/2" drill bit otherwise the O2 sensor will bottom out. I'm still trying to find my set that I bought b/c I'm clearing my codes now 2-3x per week. I think it has to do with the winter mix gas here. Didn't happen at all in the summer.

The Evo 2 is really loud when new. After a week or so, the exhaust will sound a lot better. At idle, you probably wouldn't hear it outside the car unless put your ear closer to the exhaust.

Question: Will I get a CEL for having an Evo 2 and a header or does the cat usually cause that problem?

First, if you have an 06-08, no real reason to get the RT cat. Secondly, it is the cat that is causing the CEL, not the header or exhaust. For us 04-05 folks, the header and cat are the choking points.

I also has an angled defouler, it was made by a guy from CRSX forum. Everyone claimed their CEL has been eliminated (on RSX); when I installed mine, it does DELAY the CEL, but it comes back in like 2-3 weeks.

I don't know for others, but for mine, it's funny. The CEL only pop up when I drove @ a steady speed + low rpm range (under 3K); an e.g would be driving 100-120km/h on hwy. When I drove aggressively, step in/lift of the gas ofteh, it won't pop up.

So, I have the RT cat installed for the last 6-7 months, with a cell thrown every 100 miles. Time to try a defouler.
Do we have a definitive thread-size for our TSX ?

By any chance you happened to know the cells # difference between 04-05 & 06-08?

Thank you! this difference is significant! and high flow cats is about 200-300 cells depends on brand. this makes me a 2nd thought about getting a high flow cat.

ive had a couple cars like that. with the varying rpm around town it can't take as accurate a sampling as it can in steady driving.

Sounds sweet!! I have the same set-up. I don't even remember if I have a defouler on my RT CAT, and it works fine. I didn't want to bother w/ the trouble hence why I didn't do the straight pipe!!
