injen sp1431 and rd 1430

hey guys,

i found some info on the web on each but no comparisons.... so whats the difference between them? i found 1 thread in here but doesnt really say much.

basically what i wanted to know...
which one is newer?
which one is better?
which one is prefered?
what are the pros for 1 vs the other?
what are the cons for 1 vs the other?
and what the differences are if you guys think both are pratically the same?

in other words... which one should i get?

Thanks!!
Billy

They are both similar. They both convert to short ram. They both are cold air intakes. The SP # is the new # which has MR technology but it's not as big a factor if you don't have a Mass Air Flow sensor. The RD # is discontinued I believe and the SP has now replaced it. If you need one let me know. I actually have both in stock.

I installed the SP 1431 in my '06 TSX Auto yesterday and so far so good. The install was pretty easy and although it is LOUD at WOT, my wife also drives the car and I dont think she will notice it is even installed the way she drives. The major difference I notice in the car is once I am at about 4500, it pulls much quicker to redline. This morning, it was bouncing off the rev limiter before i knew it! I would recommend it.

i been wanting to ask this for the longest time and i am sure it's a really really stupid question but here goes:

Why do people install cold air intakes if it lowers your torque and acceleration in the low rpm?? I already think the TSX is underpowered in 1st and 2nd gear so wouldn't a cold air intake be counterproductive? It takes so long to get into the high rpm that by the time you got there, it's already too late for the acceleration (I am referring to launching from a dead stop or trying to cut into highway from ramp.) Sorry to hijack the thread......

^^^ you are probably right if you only have the intake installed.

I was in the same situation @ the beginning of this year. Thru out this year, I got the Header, High-Flow Cat, Pulleys, Sun Automobile GroundingKit and Voltage Stabilizer for my engine work. My low end is so solid now, way better than stock, and of course crazy @ WOT.

you're right from all the info i've been finding... thats why i wanted an intake that can do SRI and CAI. if i decide not to have anything else done, then i will keep it SRI mode because that increases the low end power... keeping it CAI mode is what will drop the low end power. so after researching all that, i came to the conclusion that i need to get one that does both. so either k&n or injen but k&n doesnt have blue or black...
