How in the hell do u take the governor off
I'm pulling my hair out with frustration because I just lost a 3 grand bet to a nissan 370z because he beat me in a 2 mile race down an empty highway because I couldn't go past 135 because of the damn governor. I had him by like 5 car lengths. After I lost I asked him what he hit and he said 155. Who do I have to pay to take it off or what do I have to buy or what do I have to do to take the governor off. I've spent alot of hard earned cash on my 04 TSX and it pisses me off to see I cant use it past it's factory max. Please help

To answer your question, the speed limiter is computer controlled, and can be removed by an ECU flash. You will be drag limited to somewhere in the 150 range no matter what, and you will be horsepower limited by a N/A 4-cylinder no matter what.
I'm sorry, but what the hell were you thinking?! You could use that 3 grand on your car and still not have a chance of beating him. I'm not even sure it was morally right for the 370 to even race you, knowing that he would win easily.

seeing how you just joined i take it you have a newer tsx like a 2nd gen. the 2nd gen 4 cly are limited to 131 and v6 135 i think
the 1st gens were limited to around 145. i got mine up to 143 in 4th and if it werent limited i could run to about 157 with the gear ratio.
differnt trims and all have different specs. just like a regular 2005 tl is limited to 155 and a tl-s is limited to 130 for some reason. i guess its a way to be able to put more power and no get charged or something just like the tsx.

so two of these have a reflash. i have the reflahs one of my 1st mods but i always thought that it just raises the rev limit and changes timing and fuel maps etc. hondata is deff a cost worthy mod tho.

then if the 2 topped out at 142 and you say its est is 135 for calibration then him saying 135 would be "roughly 125 which correct. i drive those police speed signs the big ones and when it says 30 on the sign im doing roughly 26-27 not 8mph difference.
I don't think what he is saying is true because when I match it up with those speed sign, it's usually on the mark. If it was true, then the reflash really did work because I wouldn't think the car would govern itself if it was reading 143 on the speedometer and it was really going 135. I really don't know how calibration on a car works. But to me it seems like the governor would apply based on the speedometer.
i sorry i was quoting what nwstl said tht the videos i posted of people going to 142mph. he said it would be 135 to correct for the calibration of the speedo sayings its 142mph. when i pass a sign that tells me how fast im going lets say 45 and it says 45 on the sign i usualy see 43 but that might be due to the face the on our speedos the 40 is marked then has the tick marks in incriments of 2mph. but i know what nwstl said is not correct.
The amount of discrepancy is a percentage, not a constant number. At an indicated 30 mph, you will be going just shy of 30 in reality (thus the 27 on the radar), but at higher speeds, what is indicated will be further from the actual speed.
More detail than I care to write myself, from http://www.gps-data-team.com/pda-gps...ic.php?p=11603
The speedometer in a car is designed to give you a good idea of your speed--not the exact speed. In fact, it can't tell you the exact speed because that depends on the diameter of your tires, and that changes as the tire temperature changes, the air pressure changes, the outside temperature changes, and the tire wears over its useful life.
So if your car speedometer was calibrated--and there are speedometer shops that routinely calibrate police speedometers and can calibrate yours too--the calibration would still change a bit as temperatures changed and your tires wore down. Or you put on new tires that weren't the exact same size. (Like changing from snow tires to regulars or vice versa.)
On top of that, cars are built to a price, they don't waste a lot of money on speedometers. They are meant to be accurate to something like 5% plus-or-minus and because car makers don't want you to sue them ("But Officer I wasn't trying to speed, the speedometer was wrong!") they usually set the speedometer to read slightly faster than the real speed. Cops know that, in a 65mph zone you usually can drive 69, tops 70, and they'll let it go because they know the speedometer just isn't that accurate.
I think Honda actually got into trouble over this last year, because when you set the speedometer to read a little high that way, it also means the odometer is counting miles before they really have been driven. And folks who were denied warranty coverage on repairs because they were just over the mileage limit? Got together and sued the car maker, saying that since the speedometer and odometer are built to read high--they were entitled to warranty coverage beyond the actual number shown on the odometer. They won.

k well today i downloaded the speed gps app on my phone and went on the highway. at cruise set at 70mpg on my speedo the gps read 68.8-69.1. then i went to 80 cruise for about a mile and it read 78.2-78.7. then up to 120 for a little and it read 118.4-118.7. so my speedo off to bad. i know that if i got diff wheels and tires like 18x8 that it would be off a lot more and thats why you can buy the yellow box to calibrate for the new wheel size. but i never took my car to top speed stock so i wouldnt know if 135 is the cut. when i got hondata mine cut at 143 mph. the 2005 tsx also has more power than the 2004 and with a higher hp rating the faster the top speed. tg is how fast you can get up to speed and hp is how fast/long you can keep it up and go. 205>200hp. so a stock 05 and 06 is possible for 140+.
ok guys haven done it in a long time, but us europeans have no limiter on the speed there is one on the rev limiter 7100/7200rpm. i maxed the car out a few times on empty autobhan 5th gear will take you to 150mph gps 6th gear the car wont pull it will just sit at 150mph all day,if you had more there is still 1500/1800rpm left to the red line.
