HONDATA Reflash - 2005 AT ECU Swap
#121
Heres a scenario that i was thinking about the other day... i think it will help me justify getting this done...
I buy the 04 ECU... send it to Hondata and sync it to my car..
i love it etc..
i use it etc..
i decide i want to sell it and make some of my money back...
If i sell it to another person with a 05 TSX AT...
All they should have to do is sync it at the dealer and the chip should still stay with the Hondata program?
OR
If i sell it to someone and they sync it to their car will the Hondata program get erased?
Any ideas?
Eddie

Im sorry i meant to say that....
I buy the 04 ECU... sync it to my car... and send the ecu, immobilizer, and key to Hondata
i love it etc..
i use it etc..
Now say i decide i want to sell it and make some of my money back... so i put back my original TSX 05 AT ECU in

OR

I understand the process behind getting a car ready for hondata etc... my thing i dont understand what the syncing process involves... like what gets synced to what...
Is the ECU erased and synced to the Immobilizer?
OR
Is the Immobilzer erased and synced to the ECU?
OR
Is everything on the ECU ... Immobilzer... and key erased and started from scratch?
Thanks in Advance

OK... now lets see if what i say makes sense...
I just spoke to 3 Hondata Dealers and asked a bunch of questions...
When a person syncs a different ECU to their car the only thing that changes is the IMMOBILIZER....
In other words the Immobilizer changes to match the ECU
So it is NOT the other way around where the ECU changes to match the Immobilizer
Therefore
If i get an 04 ECU and sync it to my 05 Immobilizer and 05 Key.... they will be married and i can NOT switch out the 04 ECU and put in my 05 ECU without having to resync it at the dealership....
Now im going to call the dealership and ask how much it will cost to resync everything...

Well i called the dealer here and was quoted $105 for all the keys...
I decided i am just going to get and/old
ECU
Immobilizer
Key
Amazing that there is a place in miami that sells the
ECU
Immobilzer
Key
For $375.01 + tax
These are the specs...
2004 Engine Computer of the Acura TSX
2.4,8-03 WTH SWTCH AND KEY,000
Question...
If i got this as a unit... i wouldnt even need to take this to the dealer right.... it should just work?
What does the 8-03 stand for?
What does the Switch stand for? I'm thinking this includes the immobilizer....
Thanks in Advance

The question is, can you buy a key blank and get it cut and sync'd to the immobilzer and ECU without having it installed in the car?
IOW, can I go to the dealer, ask them to cut a key like my current key and have it sync'd to the key with the matching code?
What's the process for getting a replacement key anyways? Do they need the car there?

@ chuson
good call... that makes sense...
@ jlukja
ROFL.... i didn't even think about that.... man i feel not so smart right now....
@ Carbongray Earl
best thing to do is call a dealership and ask them...
Im just going to buy that part from the junkyard for $375
Buy this key for $125
Have the key cut for like $50
Buy 1 more really cheap key from ebay so I have a spare key for like $20
Go to the dealer and sync it all together for like $100
Get the Hondata for $600
Nearly $1200 this will cost me...
Geeze this is going to be expensive...
My birthday is coming up so this will be my B-day present.... : )
In order to offset the cost i could use Tsx536 idea of maybe
1) renting out the Hondata Reflash so ppl see what it can do before they order it
or
2) renting out the original stuff so ppl ordering hondata dont have to be without a car
Well i gotta go back and study for finals...

Is it really worth the time and money for a slight increase in the torque band? .. im just saying cause this car isn't really a "racecar" then again I guess it all depends on how much expendable income one has.
